This section shows how to Change both the Engine and Transmission Oil. They should always be changed at the same intervals using 10w40 Motorcycle Oil.
Locate a drain bucket

Remove Engine Oil Filler Cap
Remove Engine Oil Drain Plug. NOTE: When removing, use a
rocking back and forward technique to crack the plug loose or you could strip the head shape.
Drain the oil.

Remove Lower Hose Banjo Bolt and drain the hose of oil.
NOTE: Don’t lose the two copper washers.
Remove Upper Hose Banjo Bolt and drain the hose of oil.
NOTE: Don’t lose the two copper washers.

Gently tip the bike side to side to remove as much oil as possible
from all 3 places.
The Oil Filter cover can go on any way, but there is a specific orientation it needs to be in to function properly. Before removing,
run your hand over the cap and feel how good it fits. When re-installing, take note of the two small holes on either side.

Remove 4 Socket Head Cap Screws from the Oil Filter Cover
Have your bucket ready as oil will spill out of here.

Using a clean rag, wipe this area clean.
OPTIONAL: You can reuse the 4 copper washers by heating them cherry red and then
dropping (quenching) them in cold water.

NEW BOSCH P-9147 Oil Filter
Inspect your o-ring and reuse if it’s not damaged. 4 copper washers
Clean and re-install o-ring. IMPORTANT: Check to make sure the middle section (filter tension spring) is free to push
in and out and is not seized.
Push in and make sure it can move freely.

Install new Filter
Re-install Cover. This should go
on easy, DO NOT FORCE IT! Just wiggle it until it goes on easy.
NOTE the small holes. The thinner section of metal with the small hole goes on this side.

Run your hand over the cover and make sure it feels smooth like before you removed it.
Re-install Drain plug. Inspect the o-ring on the drain plug for damage before installing.

Use a funnel and install 2L of 10w40 motorcycle oil.
Re-install Banjo Bolts with a copper washer on either side of the fitting.
IMPORTANT – DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!

Start the bike and let it run for one minute.
Then shut down the engine and install the filler cap with-in one minute to check the oil level. Repeat
and add a small amount of oil at a time until the oil level reads in the middle of the dip stick grooves. It doesn’t take much to move the level on the stick.
IMPORTANT - DO NOT OVER FILL
OIL LEVEL should be in the middle or closer to the bottom groove.

Remove Transmission filler plug
Remove Transmission drain plug and drain all the oil. Then replace the plug.

Install 1.2 litres of 10w40 Motorcycle oil. Use this Oil Level plug to determine the correct oil level. With the bike level, the oil
should only come out if you tip the bike towards the hole.
