It is important to determine what level of the supply chain you intend to target. A Tier 1 company supplies goods and services directly to oil and gas Exploration and Production (E&P) companies, while a Tier 2 company supplies to a Tier 1 company, a Tier 3 company supplies to a Tier 2 company and so on (see diagram). You may find that it would be better to target a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier rather than an oil and gas E&P company, depending on the goods and services you offer.
