OIC-CERTMEMBERSHIP

The objective of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) is to provide a platform for members to explore and develop collaborative initiatives and possible partnerships in matters pertaining to cyber security that shall strengthen their self-reliance in the cyber space. Considering that the cyber space does not confine to the physical boundaries of the countries, the collaboration provide emphasis on cooperation and understanding among the members.

In the spirit of the mission, the members are to benefit in three main areas of the collaboration which are:1. Access to CERT services,2. Linkage to global networking; and3. Privilege to information resources.

About OIC-CERT

Access To Cert ServicesOIC-CERT provides a trusted platform for CERT services in mitigating cyber security incident among members. Among these are incident alert, security breach, denial-of-service incidents and solutions to any information security incidents.

The OIC-CERT offers assistance to members in establishing CERTs by providing technical expertise (in providing training for the work force capability development) and policy advice.

The OIC-CERT initiates measures to increase aware-ness and understanding of information security issues among members.

The OIC-CERT provides a platform for resources collaboration in research and development in the area of cyber security. The platform also serve as information exchange on information security and facilitate the research activities in specific areas

Members eligible to participate in the OIC-CERT Special Interest Groups / Working Groups on issues identified by the members. This will develop technical knowledge, tools, methodologies, processes and best practices for the members.

Member also has the benefit of a comprehensive and easy-to-find collection of useful information that aids in improving information security. Such information may include documentation about current best practice, policies, procedures, and checklists, and current statistics and trends in incident reporting.

Linkage To Global NetworkingIn recognizing cyber threats globally, OIC-CERT provides linkage to global networking among members. The OIC-CERT hosts technical seminars involving information security experts from around the world. Members have the opportunity to interact with global experts of various areas mainly in information security. Members enjoy additional privileges such as priority registrations, special conference fees, and sponsorship packages.

The OIC-CERT provides a venue for members to promote ICT security products and services. The OIC-CERT website provides avenue for interactive communication between members and diverse parties from across the world.

Member has the opportunities to establish/participate on real – time group communication and collaboration toward supporting information security, share knowledge, and develop new strategy, and technologies.

The OIC-CERT promotes strategic cooperation and new venture with CERT communities or non-CERT communities around the world.

This platform offers effective partnership to mitigate the cyber threats by improving the detection, analysis, and response to sophisticated cyber threats, with a focus on government, critical infrastructure and other systems of national interest.

Members have the opportunity to form/get connected with existing alliance across 3 regions such as Middle East, Asean and African. This is for better union, support and broader scope in information security arena.

The OIC-CERT helps to open up opportunities for collaboration between other CERTs/CSIRT for broader engagement in identifying new standards and strategic approach toward securing the cyber space.

Members are able to gain smart partnership between the OIC-CERT members and non members as the foundation of information security worldwide via the sharing of viewpoints, ideas, experience and information among experts.
