RUSHING: BEST. DECADE. EVER!Ohio State is on a rushing roll! The program is in the midst of its best decade ever in terms of 1,000-yard rushers, in terms of leading the Big Ten in rushing and in terms of yards per carry average. And the potential to add to those numbers this year is great with Ohio State’s returning running back duo of Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins. Here’s why: • Mike and J.K. are the fi rst set of Ohio State running backs to enter a season with each already owning a 1,000-yard rushing campaign (Braxton Miller and Ezekiel Elliott did in 2015, but Braxton was a QB);• The duo will be vying to become only the second set of Buckeye running backs to each gain 1,000-yards rushing in the same season, and the third Buckeye duo overall (Archie Griffi n & Pete Johnson in 1975; and Carlos Hyde and QB Braxton Miller in 2013); and• They’ll be looking to extend the school record for consecutive seasons with a 1,000-yard rusher to seven.

OHIO STATE VS. RUTGERS

Urban Meyer will return to coaching the Buckeyes for practice on Sept. 3; he will be back on the sidelines Sept. 22 vs. Tulane

Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer is 73-8 through six seasons leading one of the most storied programs in college football. He has coached the Buckeyes to a national championship in 2014 – the program’s eighth – by winning the fi rst College Football Playoff (CFP), to a repeat appearance in the CFP in 2017, to six consecutive Big Ten conference divisional titles, to Big Ten championships in 2017 and 2014, to a 47-3 record in Big Ten games including a 6-0 record vs. Michigan, and to a 19-5 record versus ranked teams. He has done this by developing and overseeing a program culture that requires accountability, promotes respect, prepares young men for life after football and develops football skill sets and talents at an unsurpassed rate: his program has produced 40 NFL draft picks the last six years (fourth-most, nationally), including 12 fi rst-round picks (second, nationally) and record numbers of draft picks through the second, third and fourth rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft. And his team members are getting it done in the classroom, as well. Ohio State Buckeyes have earned fi ve academic All-American honors the past four years, one National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete award and a total of 34 players were named Academic All-Big Ten Conference for the 2017-18 academic calendar. These fi rst 16 years as a head coach for Meyer, featuring three national championships and a record of 177 wins against just 31 losses for an .851 winning percentage, have been full of accomplishment, achievement and success for which few can compare.
