Camp Name: Summer Institute for Discovering Nursing Program Description: The Summer Institute for Discovering Nursing is a great way to see why

nursing could be right for you! This engaging program brings students from a variety of

backgrounds together to engage with real-world nurses, current students and nursing faculty

The Summer Institute is just one of the many ways we are working to increase the number of

students from historically underrepresented populations in nursing including, but not limited to,

racial, ethnic, and cultural minorities, first generation low-income (FGLI) and males. Through

this program and others, we will diversify the nursing pipeline. Moving forward, we recognize

College of Nursing is actively working to build a culturally competent nursing workforce which

mirrors our patient populations.

Camp Name: The Humanities and Cognitive Sciences High School Summer Institute Program Description: The Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences is a proud co-sponsor of

the annual Humanities and Cognitive Sciences High School Summer Institute in partnership

with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and we place a great emphasis on ensuring a

socioeconomically and culturally diverse class. This week-long day camp provides a critical

thinking forum for rising high school students to explore critical questions at the intersection of

the humanities and cognitive sciences.

Through daily lectures, interactive discussions, research exploration, and collaborative activities

with OSU students and faculty across campus, scholars will learn central aspects of how

interdisciplinary work between the two fields helps us understand how we imagine, artistically

create, and materially transform the world in which we live. Additionally, scholars have the

unique opportunity to develop a group research presentation on a topic of their choosing, which

they will present as a culminating activity for the Institute. The 2017 Summer Institute will take
