C&I Energy Efficient Equipment Program – SMALL

– Expanded measures in HVAC and water heating

– Added measures including recycling appliances

– Expanded measures in food service

– Expanded measures to include LED and other EE Lighting technologies in the lighting sub-program; and

– Removed prescriptive rebates for motors up to and over 200HP from the customer equipment sub-program, but the Company will consider rebates for motors in their custom equipment sub-program.

Energy Efficient Buildings Program – (SMALL) a continuation and consolidation of the C&I New Construction Program and C&I

Audit Program.

The following changes were made:• Targeted custom building offering for shell improvements and,

• Added energy efficiency kits• EE Kits are new to OH/ been used extensively in PA programs

• C&I Kits including CFLs and smart strips for small businesses

Energy Efficient Buildings Program – (LARGE) a continuation and consolidation of the Technical Assessment Umbrella and C&I

Equipment Program - Large.

The measures included in this program are unchanged from the Existing Plans.

EE Buildings Program / Audits:

• C&I Audits (Small & Large):

• Companies will increase the audit payment amount for small C&I customers from $4,000 to $5,000.

• Allow customer to reduce the overall costs of the audit by installing recommended prescriptive measures that result from the audit.

• Larger customers, pay 50% of the audit cost, and allow large customer to reduce 50% of the audit cost by installing recommended prescriptive measures.

• Require customers that fail to install the recommended measures within 6 months of the audit to pay for the cost of the audit.

EE Buildings Program / Retro-commissioning (RCx) (COMING)

Retro-commissioning is the systematic process applied to existing buildings to ensure that their systems can be operated and maintained according to the owner’s needs. Looking for No-Cost or Low-Cost measures. RCx is normally done every 3 - 5 years to maintain top levels of building performance

• Commercial Building RCx might include:• Adjustment of lighting and HVAC operating schedules • Adjustment of HVAC temperature set points • Redeployment of inoperable HVAC dampers and controls

• Industrial Plant RCx might include:– Compressed Air Leak loss reduction – Compressed Air Adjustment of an existing flow controller or sequencer to

match plant operations – Compressed Air Correction of inappropriate uses of compressed air such as

open blowing


Mercantile Customer Program

Who is considered “mercantile”? A “mercantile customer” is a commercial or industrial customer that consumes more

than 700,000 kWh per year for non-residential use or is part of a national account involving multiple facilities in one or more states

Minimum energy efficiency saving requirements per the DSE2 Rider

Energy savings and/or peak demand reductions from customer’s self-directed projects equal to or greater than the statutory benchmarks to which the company is subject

If customer elects cash rebate in lieu of exemption, based on 75% of prescriptive program rebates, capped at 50% of project cost or $250k per project or $500k per customer

Customer commits either existing or new energy savings to the utility’s compliance requirements through an application filed to PUCO

PUCO has final approval authority10

Mercantile customers may qualify to avoid certain charges in the Demand Side Management and Energy Efficiency Rider (DSE2) or may choose a cash option
