Dear Oggie,How I al h li ?

This is a question that comes up a lot. Here are some solutions on how to resolve it. First, you can ask them to stop bullying, because it’s not nice. Next, have your good friends stay with you, the bully will be less likely to bully if there are a few of you. Lastly, if the bully won’t stop, you will go to the a trusted adult or parent. Always speak up! Never try to go through this alone.#S O B N

The Worms are Coming!By Michael N.

The Green Team will be placing worms in three classrooms. Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Byrne, and Ms. Winton are the lucky worm recipients. They are composting food to make it into soil. They will be feeding them scraps from the cafeteria or from home. The worms are called Red Wiggler Worms. They have many different names. They are also known as Tiger worms, Manure worms, Composting worms, and Trout worms.

To raise worms you need a box and some starting material like wet newspaper or dirt. You need a lid on the box because they will escape. They need to be in a warm temperature, they don’t like too hot or too cold. Make sure you feed them fresh food for them to make into soil.

These worms (Red Wiggler Worms) are Nature's ultimate composting worms. They have specific foods the Red Worms need to eat. Some of those food are carrots, lettuce, beans, peas, limited amount of potatoes, leaf vegetables, and coffee. Ogdensburg School uses this dirt to plant with in the Spring!

The STEM club is working on designs to separate worms from the castings (soil).

Purple for Mrs. BaileyBy: Charlotte G.

On January 18th, 2018 at Ogdensburg School, there were crowds of purple wherever you looked. Students and Faculty wore purple in honor of Mrs Bailey, a teacher who taught at Ogdensburg School for many years. She taught first and second grade and many of the current upper grade students had her. On January 17th, 2017, she passed away from cancer. Even though she is gone, she is never forgotten. She was the most amazing and inspiring woman we had ever met. As a student of hers, I can honestly say that she was such an incredible lady that spread happiness wherever she went. The one thing that stands out in our minds about her is how she taught us to always stand up for what we believe is right. She will never ever be forgotten and she will always be in our hearts. We love and miss you Mrs Bailey.

People who Deserve to be NoticedBy: Emily B.

There are a lot of people who deserve to be recognized, because they haven’t been noticed perhaps as much as others. They may not notice it but they make a big difference in students’ lives. Here are some behind the scenes people who we would like to mention.

1. The first one that needs to be mentioned is Mr.Astor. He makes many kids smile each day, and he is the head of the school. If it wasn’t for him perhaps this school would be a mess. (Don’t tell Mrs. Gengaro)

2. Another “person” that deserves a spot is Lizzy. Lizzy is the talk of the “Town” She is also a cute dog that puts a smile on everyone's face everyday. She has many kids petting her, which can sometimes frustrate or scare a dog. She also has to follow orders.

3. The next people we rarely think about are the “lunch ladies.” We rarely think about them but they work very hard to feed all of the students in the entire school at the right time.

4. This is a big one! A lot of people forget to thank their teachers that teach them Science, Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts. These four subjects are the hardest, especially for the teacher teaching it!

5. Another thing that hurts me is when I see that a student doesn’t thank a specials teacher (World Language, Music, etc.) These teachers teach every student in the school; their job is difficult at times!

6. This one is the one everyone misses. They forget to say “thanks” or “thank you” to the paraprofessionals and secretaries of the school. They help a lot of kids out in quite a variety of ways.Next time you see someone special give them a “thanks” or a smile! Your gesture goes a long way!
