NATIONAL RIDE2SCHOOL DAY 2019 Bogangar Public School are excited to be celebrating National Ride2School Day on Friday 22 March 2019. In the spirit of embracing a healthy and happy start to the day, we encourage all students and their families to leave the car at home and give riding, walking, scooting or skating to school a go. National Ride2School Day is the perfect opportunity to kick-start new healthy habits and promote the many benefits of active transport for our community. If you can’t actively travel the whole way, consider parking the car nearby and riding or walking the rest of the way. It’s going to be a wheelie good day and we hope to see you there!

YEAR 1 & YEAR 2 SWIMMING PROGRAM Over the past 4 weeks, students in Year 1 and Year 2 have been attending weekly swimming lessons. Every Wednesday, students get organised and board the bus to Casuarina Rec Club to practise their swimming skills and even have a little fun! Swimming is a skill for life and at Bogangar Public School we aim to support the development of swimming across all levels. We want all students to have the skills required to enjoy swimming safely – especially considering where we live and being surround-ed by the beautiful coastal waters on a daily basis! Thank you to our active parent community, who readily support our swimming program at Bogangar Public School. Year 1 and Year 2 Teachers

HARMONY DAY Harmony Day is being celebrated at Bogangar Public School on Thursday 21st March.

Harmony Day is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.

It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

We will be having a whole school assembly at 9:15am Thursday 21st March in the school hall. Parents and community members are welcome to attend.

The rest of the day will be spent doing a variety of multicultural games and activities in class groups. Students are asked to wear orange, which is the colour of social communication and meaningful conversations.

BOOK CLUB

Book club is on again this term! Thank you to all the families who continue to support this rewarding program. Your child has received the current Book Club catalogue for issue 2. They have a wonderful range of books, games and activities, suited to all ages and abilities, with prices starting at $2.00! Book Club is a fun and convenient way of bringing popular titles and series from best-selling authors that we know kids love, and helps with bridging the ever-important class-to-home reading gap. Book Club Issue 2 has an exciting offer for parents to purchase David Walliams' just released book, Fing, for just $15! Research from the most recent Australian Kids and Family Read-ing Report shows that the more children read, the better readers they become, and the better readers they become, the more they enjoy reading. All orders processed through Book Club, earn points for our school. These reward points go towards buying new books for our school library and educational tools which we use across all stages. This year all book club orders must be made online through the LOOP system at www.scholastic.com.au/loop Once you have created an account, you can link your child and their class to your profile. Simply select the current issue, place your order and pay online in one easy transaction. Your order will then be delivered directly to your child at school with noth-ing else for you to do. Just a reminder that all orders for issue 2 must be placed by 23 March. Thank You for your support and HAPPY READING! Nicole Dempsey – Book Club Coordinator (K/1 Reef Teacher)
