Your guide to your life-saving smoke alarm:
Install working smoke alarms on every storey of your home, and outside all sleeping areas. For best protection, install smoke alarms in every bedroom.
Test smoke alarms monthly by pressing the ‘test’ button. If it doesn’t beep, it won’t be able to save its family. Replace the batteries and test again.
Change the batteries at least once a year, or whenever you hear the low battery ‘chirp’. Check the date – smoke alarms DO expire. All alarms, even hard-wired ones, should be replaced
according to manufacturer’s instructions. Smoke alarms older than 10 years must be replaced. Working smoke alarms will give you the early warning you need to safely escape a fire. Ensure
yours are working – your life depends on it. Know what to do if your smoke alarm goes off. Plan your escape and do home fire drills with all
members of your family.TWEETS
