Highwaymen Meet Englewood Challenge The high-riding, high-flying, dynamic Teaneck
High School football team will · meet another stiff challenge on the Route 4 gridiron this afternoon. George Baldwin's talented Maroon Raiders from Englewood will pay Charlie Gunner's crew a visit.
This is the big game of the day hereabouts as it pits last year's NNJIL co-champions together in a battle which will go a long way towards deciding this year's title winner. Teaneck, Englewood, and Hackensack are the three powers in the circuit. The Highwaymen and Maroon will be attempting to destroy each other today before both tackle Hackensack later in the season.
Teaneck's 33-0 victory over Memorial last week has left the Big Blue in the position of power in Bergen County. Each of their final six opponents will be shooting the works in an attempt to knock the Highwaymen off their pinnacle.
Charlie Gunner, fiery Big Blue pilot, has said that he wants a perfect year. A 9-0 mark is the goal and each club which comes before the Highwaymen is a threat to this dream. Englewood presents a very strong case.
George Baldwin has another typical Maroon club. He has a sure, swift backfield combine and a

hard-charging, rough forward wall. The Maroon Raiders whipped Teaneck, 27-7 last year and even though the Big Blue fought back to gain a tie for the loop crown, the stigma of defeat was still apparent in the Route 4 camp.
Memories of last year's contest will be sticking to the veteran Teaneck team and it is sure that the Highwaymen will again be an "up" ball club.
Englewood has won its first three starts with no trouble. The Raiders finest decision was a 26-7 romp over Ridgewood, which is otherwise unbeaten.
Baldwin is again using his multiple offense. The Raiders stuck to the T for most part last week against Rutherford, which they disposed of by a 26-8 count. Gunner and his coaching aides are looking for a little more variety from the Maroon this week. The Raiders have a tough backfleld of Murray Diamond, Vince Riviello, Cliff Archibald. and Marcus Allen, who can move the football. Added to this quartet is the speedy John (Jute) Williams. brother of the famed Minner. Jute can carry the m~il.
Diamond has won a great deal of praise from the Englewood camp for his quarterbacking and passing ability. He has put the long-sought aerial arm

into the Maroon attack. With this double-trouble offense, Teaneck is sure to be well tested.
The Highwaymen will counter with a dramatic offensive club which can move up the middle, . around the ends, and through the air. In Len Garille, Teaneck has a multi-talented quarterback:, certainly the equal of any signal caller in the County. With Len in the backfield are the bruising Bart DiChiara, fleet Al Wiener, and Bobby Cannon, Ken Naas, and glue-fingered Tom Siwulec, who made two fabulous receptions against Memorial.
Teaneck's forward walL the pride and joy of line coach Jack Armstrong, will have Barry Herbert and Arne Thorsland at the ends, Mike Denino and Kip
Botyos at tackles, Phil Mapes and Al Hilkman at guards, and Lynn Francis at center. Behind this crew are Jon Cook, Ev Thorsland, Arvid Thorsland, and Rich Levis.
One stellar Highwayman will not be in uniform today. Jerry Finneran, Teaneck's all-purpose lineman, suffered a shoulder separation against Memorial in the first period and will be sidelined for an indefinite period.
The Highwaymen will miss the fine offensive and defensive performer. On the brighter side is the return to action of end Hal Eten who suffered a dislocation in preseason scrimmage. Eten is a valuable end who is dangerous as a pass receiver.
