Both vocally and musically, this is what she delivers: from gutsy blues to sweet ballads and a good dose of humour... this quirky bird certainly CAN sing, and will be providing the perfect soundtrack for valentine’s day - The summer of love, psychedelia. Come and enjoy a laid back, cruisy set!

Saturday Workshops – The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre

10:00 - Busking – Dennis Aubrey: Dennis Aubrey started busking in 1973. For many years he busked outside venues like the Hordern Pavilion at concerts all around the country, hitch hiking a quarter of a million miles in the process. Dennis will share the secrets of how to get more of those precious gold nuggets in your ukulele case and how to get the best value out of the considerable effort required to be a successful street performer.

11:00 - Alternate Tunings Workshop – Dean Newbold: "I know how to play all the chords in the book. Now what?" "I would like to write some songs, but I keep going to the same 3 chords." If either of these sounds like you, then you might want to try some different tunings. Let's face it; you have 8 ukuleles in the house; why would you have them all in the same tuning? Alternate tunings can break old habits and open up new worlds for you to explore.

12:00 - Homework (Home Recording Workshop) – Adam Robinson: This workshop will cover the basics of how to use recording software. The examples in the workshop will use Apple GarageBand (which runs on Mac and iPad/iPhone) but we’ll talk about Windows and Android as well. I don’t plan to get into lots of deep technical discussion. The aim is to get people to the point where they can start experimenting with recording their music.

1:00 - Beginners – (Ukulele John) John Chandler: An introduction to take you from a complete beginner through basic fundamentals, tips and techniques. You will have a concept of chords, ukulele song sheets, basic strums and the confidence and ability to join with others to strum your favourite tunes. Experience the fun of the ‘happiest instrument there is’.

1:45 - One Note Samba! Aye Karumba - Cath (Jazz Hands) McCourt: If you would like to drift into a new challenge of different shaped chords then Jazz is for you, where it starts and where it ends is always a mystery and it makes you want for more (and a bit of lead thrown in) plus techniques how to strum to a different beat. It will help if you already know your basic chords and can form Bar Chords as Jazz is mostly that up and down the neck, hope to see you there. From Jazz Hands

2:45 - Staging your Songs - David Megarrity: OK. You’ve got the songs down. The next step is to present your music in a way that’ll help it leap off the stage. Work and play with David Megarrity (Tyrone and Lesley) to outline a few principles to shape and frame your material for performance. Warning: may include content that seems obvious, but that nobody ever seems to mention.

Please join with the Blue MUGs to acknowledge and send a special thankyou to all the performers

who come along each year to make the Festival such a wonderful community event.
