Tight at the top

The wins last night by KC and Sioux City and the loss by Cleburne to Lincoln tightened the post season race. Sioux City moved into a tie with Cleburne for the South Division crown but own the tie-breaker head to head. KC sits one game back of both clubs and trails Cleburne in the wild card by a game as well. The T-Bones own the tie breaker with the RailRoaders but are 3-6 against Sioux City. The T-Bones simple math is that they need to keep winning and only need to take care of their own business to make it into the post season and defend their crown. In that path they would be no worse than a wild card entrant. Yet, at this point in the race with five games there are multiple playoff scenarios where the division title is still within reach. To get to that spot, KC could also use some help depending on results. They will play Texas one more time and return home to play Sioux City four more times. Currently the T-Bones own the tie breaker head to head with Cleburne but are 3-6 against Sioux City. T-Bones fans might want to dust off any Sioux Falls gear or find some Lincoln love in their heart this week as both teams could help turn the race upside down. Also looking ahead to the weekend, the longer the North Division stays close the series at Fargo for Cleburne would also be one to watch and perhaps cheer on the RedHawks this weekend and St. Paul the next two nights as they face Fargo. The T-Bones need only to be even in the standings with Cleburne to move forward to post season. The schedule breakdown:

1000 K

With T.J. House strike out of Drew Stankiewicz Friday night in the first inning the veteran notched his 1000 strike out of his career. He

came in with 999 in 11 seasons including this season at Milwaukee where the lefty struck out 78 this season.

Tommy moves up Tommy Collier with the win last night now has 24 wins as a T-Bone. He is 10-5 this year after going 12-3 last year for a total of 21 wins. He also tossed two wins in the post season going 2-1. He is 24-9 and now sits 4th in franchise history but third since the team moved to KCK 17 seasons ago. Greg Bicknell 2004-2006 36 Jonathan Krysa 2003-2007 30 Jeremy McGarity (Duluth) 1995-1997 26 Tommy Collier 2018-2019 5 Cody McAliister 2009-2010 19 Joe Montgomery (Duluth) 1999-2000, 02 17

Lots of wins With the T-Bones organization in an unprecedented stretch of success on the field with three straight finishes above .500 in reach the

team has seen the organizations all-time record climb above .500 as well. On August 14th with the walk off win over Cleburne the

franchise hit the .500 mark and currently is 452-442 all time. No T-Bones club has ever had two straight finishes above .500 so this

shot at three in impressive overall under the direction of Manager Joe Calfapietra. The T-Bones did reach the post season three

straight seasons from 2008-2010 but only in 2010 did the team finish above .500. Last year the T-Bones set a franchise record for wins

with 62. All time win marks:

2018 - 62-37

2010 - 58-42

2017 - 57-43

2019 - 54-41

Series History

The T-Bones have no-hit the AirHogs twice for their only two no hitters in franchise history. In 2017 the T-Bones recorded their first no

hitter against Texas on July 27, 2017 with Matt Sergey tossing a seven-inning no-hitter. Sergey allowed just two walks punched out 10

in the seven-inning game. The AirHogs were able to grab the lead on a steal of home by Casio Grider in the top of the seventh but KC

came back to walk it off with a Cedric Hunter two RBI double off the mini monster in left to seal the win. It was the T-Bones first no

hitter as members of the American Association and the second of his career or Sergey. Then on July 5th , 2018 at Texas, KC would toss

a combined no-hitter in game two of a doubleheader. It was the second straight season the T-Bones have not hit the Airhogs. Up until

Eddie Medina of St. Paul tossed his not hitter this season two of the previous three no hitters for the league had been walk off no hitters

both involving KC. The T-Bones were victims of the feat on June 2nd, 2016 at Gary with Karl Triana doing the feat for the RailCats. To

put that into perspective it has only happened six time in Major League Baseball the last in 2013.

Johnson Secures Win in Final Start of 2011

08/29/2011

Kris Johnson (6-3) held the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (43-56) to two runs on seven hits over seven innings to secure the victory in his final start of the season as the Kansas City T-Bones (48-51) earned a 3-2 win on Monday night at Newman Outdoor Field. Johnson and Fargo starter Dan Blewett (2-5) matched zeros through three innings before the RedHawks struck for their first run in the bottom of the fourth. Jesse Hoorelbeke opened the frame with a double and later scored on a groundout for the 1-0 advantage.

Kansas City answered immediately, scoring three runs on three hits and an error in the top of the fifth to claim a lead they would not relinquish. An RBI double by Keanon Simon opened the scoring before Justin Snyder pushed the second runner home with an RBI groundout. Simon then scored on a single by Ray Sadler to cap off the frame.

Blewett was charged with three runs, two earned, on seven hits over five innings in the loss.

The RedHawks plated their final run in the sixth on an RBI single by Todd Jennings to make the final 3-2. Drew Graham threw a scoreless eighth in relief of Johnson before giving way to Kyle Dahman in the ninth. Dahman struck out two of the three batters he faced to secure his ninth save of the season.

Simon finished three-for-five with an RBI to pace the offensive effort.

MEET THE T-BONES STARTING PITCHER

T.J. House joined the T-Bones via trade with the Milwaukee Milkmen on August 23, 2019. House was born in Slidell, Louisiana and moved to Picayune, Mississippi as a child. House attended Picayune Memorial High School, where he starred for his school's baseball team. The Indians drafted House in the 16th round of the 2008 MLB Draft. He began his professional career with the Class-A Lake County Captains in 2009. That year, he had a win-loss record of 6-11, a 3.15 earned run average (ERA), and 109 strikeouts. He spent the next two years with the Kinston Indians, going 6-10 in 2010 and 6-12 in 2011. He was an invite to spring training in 2012, but was kept in the bullpen, and the Indians front office considered releasing him if he did not perform well the following season. House split the 2012 season with the Carolina Mudcats and Akron Aeros. In 23 games with the Aeros, he went 8-5 with a 3.98 ERA. The Indians added him to their 40-man roster after the 2012 season. House spent the 2013 season with the Aeros and the AAA Columbus Clippers. The Indians promoted House from the minors on June 24, 2013.[5] After making no appearances in any major-league games, House was optioned back to Columbus for the remainder of the season. House spent the first 1.5 months of the 2014 season with the Clippers, going 1-4 with a 3.79 ERA and 42 strikeouts in ten games. The Indians promoted House to the major leagues on May 17, 2014, and he made his major league debut that day. For the season, he had five wins, three losses, and a 3.35 ERA in 19 appearances. House was designated for assignment by the Indians on September 20, 2016. After clearing waivers, House was outrighted to Columbus on September 27, 2016. He elected free agency on November 7, 2016. The Toronto Blue Jays signed House to a minor-league deal on December 14, 2016. House was struck in the head by a line drive on March 10, 2017, during a spring training game in Lakeland, Florida and left the field in an ambulance. On August 19, House was called up by the Blue Jays. He was designated for assignment on August 27. On October 13, House elected free agency. On January 22, 2018, House signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox. He was assigned to AAA Charlotte Knights. House was released on June 12, 2018. On May 13, 2019, House signed with the Milwaukee Milkmen of the independent American Association.
