October/November 2018
Dear Elk Members,
Autumn is finally here!
Let’s say goodbye to
summer and lets all of us
start enjoying some of
the fall/winter events at
the Lodge. The start of
this new season provides
a wonderful opportunity
for us to renew; it’s time
to expand upon your
membership, and move
forward as Elks to
continue to keep our
lodge strong. You should
have received your letter
about the much needed
upgrades that will
enhance our lodge
appearance. This has to
be done in order to keep
up on our aging building
which was built in 1974. I
would love to see each
Elk member donate
money to help with
improvements, for
example, a Capital
Campaign fund for
donations. We must keep
our lodge beautiful to get
new members, and yes,
appearance does matter. If
you can’t donate
monetarily, maybe
volunteer, get involved
with an event or activity
that interests you. And
there are many events
coming this fall/winter
season for everyone to
enjoy. First of all, we have
a “Trail of Fears” hosted by
CJ & Val starting in
October, the children’s
Halloween and Christmas
parties, some Bonanzas
and we have some great
bands coming; the Spin
Outs, Elvis Taylor Brown,
Rick K & the All Niters.
Also, don’t forget to bring a
toy in to help support Toys
for Tots. We have a lot of
events going on and, as
always, we need you to
help support the Elk lodge
functions. In about five
months time, think about
becoming an Officer or
Trustee. These roles are
very important to keep our
lodge going and moving
forward.
“As each of you behold the
changing leaves, and enjoy
the crisp breeze, let your
eyes take in the bursts of
color. Transformation is
afoot and hope is in the
air”.
Sincerely,
Jim Mills, Exalted Ruler

vestigations, Drug Awareness, Camp Barrett and lot more.

Lodge bulletins: USPS vs e-mail
GRAND SECRETARY
Bryan R. Klatt
Section 1.115 Notice: “Except as otherwise directed by Executive Order, any notice re-
quired to be sent or mailed to all Members of the Lodge may be included in the Lodge
Bulletin or sent electronically to any Member who has given written authorization to re-
ceive notices electronically. Notice which is required to be served upon a specific Mem-
ber must be served personally, by United States Mail or by United States Mail, Certified,
Return Receipt Requested as specifically provided.”
Section 16.150, Opinion 03: If a Lodge publishes any magazine, newspaper, bulletin, or
other periodical devoted to the interests of the Order, every Member of that Lodge is enti-
tled to receive a copy of each such publication, whether by electronic delivery or by regu-
lar mail.
Section 16.150, Opinion 04: The Lodge Bulletin may be sent electronically to any Member
without written authorization from that Member. The Grand Secretary’s Office has seen an
increase in inquiries about e-mailing the Lodge Bulletin to save the Lodge money. Yes, a
Lodge can e-mail the Lodge Bulletin to a Member as stated in the Statutes and Opinions
above. Consequently, a Lodge cannot mandate all Members will receive the bulletin elec-
tronically if a Member requests a paper copy via regular mail.
