MARCH 2015 NEWSLETTER
From the President’s Desk
March is coming fast, elections, that is. Voting will take place at the March meeting and the new officers will take their new positions at the April meeting. The following are the candidates: President, Chuck Wiggins, Vice President, Lenny Szarek Secretary, Helen Paradis Treasurer, Irene Dube Officer-at-Large, Roger Paradis Please come and vote and or nominate your candidate. I have asked for suggestions for the new addition for the clubhouse and have received some good ones. We should keep in mind: the addition will not be constructed until after the sewer system has been installed and connected to Mansfield sewer. The earliest this may happen is 2017. Not all suggestions offered can be implemented due to financial and construction restraints. Jensen's management will make the final decision on design and features. Continue to put your recommendations in the suggestion box located in the clubhouse.l Thank You , Emile

A Huge Thank You
We are so fortunate to have fabulous cooks living at Rolling Hills who made the Soup/Salad Night so
successful in spite of the snow.
A special thanks to Bea and Sylvia for assisting with decorating and setting up Saturday morning. And
thank you to all who assisted serving and cleaning up.
Everyone certainly enjoyed the singing talent of Walter Martin who entertained with many Broadway
hits.
Also we were happy to celebrate Al and Sharron Swanson’s 45th wedding anniversary.
Thank you all,
Sonia Drexler and Joyce Collins
AmeriGas Reminder
AmeriGas is having difficulties delivering gas to Rolling Hills residents. The company wants to remind us to make a clear path to the tanks and to clear snow covering the tanks. Thank you.
Thank You
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Meet and Greet in Janu-ary. There has been excellent feedback on the event so hopefully this will become an annual thing. Also thanks to Diane Carson, Ken and Kathy Snow and Bea Howard. A very special thank you to Sonia Drexler for all her help on the decorations. Jensen’s generosity funded the event and so we were able to raffle off four $25. gift cards from lo-cal businesses. The winners were Joyce Wiggins, David Waite, Rachel Cosby and Rosemary Beecher. I had a great time and I hope everyone else did as well.

February 10, 2015 Dear Rolling Hills Residents: This week’s trash and recycle service has not been altered at Rolling Hills but I understand that a number of residents did not put out their trash and recyclables today. This letter is to let residents know that they can double up on trash and recyclables next week (even if there is a bag and or bin outside of the cans.). You can also use the Mansfield transfer station, you will not be charged for trash. Transfer station information can be accessed through www.mansfieldct.gov. The best ways to stay informed of changes to Mansfield’s trash service are listed below: 1. To get e-mail notifications about trash service changes, go to www.mansfieldct.gov. On the right side of the webpage is “e-mail notification”. Click on it and select one or all of the following categories:
• Trash service – you will receive only notices about matters related to trash service
• Environmental programs – you will receive notices about trash service and programs, such as the organic land care workshops coming up or the compost bin sale
• Press releases – you will receive the above information plus any other town press releases
2. Go to the Mansfield website referenced above. On the main page will be a link to information about delays. 3. Those without internet access can call my phone number, 860-429-3333. I attempt to keep my phone message updated. Virginia Walton Recycling Coordinator Town of Mansfield 4 South Eagleville Rd Storrs, CT 06268 860-429-3333
Believe it or not, spring will come again this year. This is the time of year when we do our best to make our communities shine. You will see your Area Supervisors and operations crews out daily doing what they excel at making our communities look the very best they can be. They will also be involved in planned improvement projects, so please be cautious and considerate when driving past them.
Spring is also the time of the year when Annual Electric and Annual Walk Thru Inspections are conducted in each community. Every home, clubhouse, pool, and maintenance facility as well as electric services will receive a thorough and complete inspection. Reminder letters will be sent to residents who need to catch up on overdue maintenance on their homes and home sites.
This is also a good time to offer the following reminders that are important to all of us:
• Speeding in the communities - The 15 MPH limit is critical to the safety of residents who walk as well as drivers in the community. Please be considerate and vigilant when driving as some who are walking may not hear you, or may not be able to get out of the path of your car if necessary. It’s also a good idea to remind your visitors of this rule.
• Pets - Each year we receive many complaints about pets that are not leashed or creating a disturbance, and owners who do not clean up after their pets. In accordance with Rental Agreement guidelines, all pets must be kept on a leash, and pet owners must clean up after their pet immediately.
• Animal Feeding – This is expressly prohibited, according to the Rental Agreement guidelines. The feeding of wild animals (deer, feral cats, etc.) is not only a cause of problems in the community and for your neighbors; it can be unsafe and unsanitary and will encourage visits from other unwelcome animals. Please do not feed any wild animals.
• Leaves – Last fall some residents were caught by the early and continuing snow that covered leaves still on the ground. In the early spring, any remaining leaves should be removed as soon as possible. This will allow the grass to regrow without damage to your lawn.
• Green Mold Growth – With warmer weather, the mold growth will increase, and it is usually first noticed on the North or shaded side of your home. Many commercial products are available to control and eliminate the mold before it becomes a larger and more expensive problem.
• Contact Us – Remember you can reach us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at 800-458-6832 or email us at [email protected]. We are always available to assist you in your Jensen Community.
Sincerely, JENSEN’S, INC. Michael Kane Assistant Vice President – CT Operations
