MESSAGE FROM AMIR GOLROO

At the Office of International Affairs at Amirka-

bir University of Technology, we are investing

for the future. Transcending national boundaries

and reaching out to global competence and en-

gagement will help gratify this generation’s aspi-

rations for national advancements and interna-

tional recognition. We aim to contribute to the

academic and economic success and develop-

ment of our country by connecting outstanding

talent worldwide to AUT’s competent students

and researchers.

To this end, our present attention is towards

research and industrial partnership. Faculty

members and students can participate in the var-

ious programs and opportunities that this office

suggests, such as carrying out joint projects, par-

ticipating in science tours and internships, gain-

ing a dual degree or participating in student ex-

change programs.

To this day, our efforts have led to notable

achievements and success for the university and

its members; hosting international delegates

from reputable universities, receiving funds and

grants on research and industrial projects, as

well as hosting foreign students for summer in-

ternship are only some of the accomplishments

from our staff members’ honest and hard work.

Internationalization is a continuous process that

will lead us to become a third generation univer-

sity. Our objective and future goal is to direct

our academia towards trans-disciplinary research

in order to exploit knowledge and become a

multicultural, cosmopolitan university that will

promote entrepreneurship and develop open

connections with global counterparts.

We hope you enjoy reading this report which

reflects our global activities that have helped

Amirkabir University of Technology to be

among the best in the world.

Located at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, the International Association of Universities (IAU) brings together 641 higher education institu-tions and organizations from 120 different coun-tries for the reflection and action on common con-cerns. This gives AUT access to IAU’s publications as well as the entitlement to participate in events organized by IAU.

Erasmus Mundus - MARHABA had its 3rd cohort this year in which 2 AUT students received ac-ceptance and had the opportunity to spend a se-mester at a European university.

AUT also hosted a joint workshop with CNRS, in the field of Biomedical Engineering, as well as a workshop for EPFL students who completed a 3 week internship at AUT.

After strengthening our relation with Istanbul Ay-din University last year, this year AUT was proud to host the first EURAS ( Eurasian Universities Union) Academy seminar on internationalization of higher education in Iran. At the same time with vis-its to and from Aydin University, we established new connections with their business incubator.
