If a student discloses a sexual assault or rape to you, please follow these steps:

You must report to OIE Institutional Equity
Sexual assault is any sexual contact or behavior
that occurs without consent by the recipient of any
unwanted sexual behavior/activity, including rape,
groping, and forced kissing. NMSU prohibits all
forms of sexual misconduct that includes sexual
violence and sexual harassment, such as:
Sexual assault
Rape
Sexual exploitation
Relationship violence (domestic & dating)
Stalking
Voyeurism
Exposing oneself
Video/audio taping of sexual activity
Sexual activity resulting from emotional
coercion

Chapter 3:25, Section C, NMSU Policy Manual: Title IX requires reporting from “responsible employees” for which purpose of the policy can be defined to include: “Those with authority to address and remedy sex-based discrimination and harassment; those with responsibility to report sexual misconduct to Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) and/or those who a student reasonably believes has such authority or obligation.” VICTIM REPORTING OPTIONS:
