God is merciful in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Effective June 1st the office is closed on Monday’s.
July 1st is celebrated as Canada’s birthday. Canadians should seek to be witnesses
to Christ in Canada and the world, and to continue working to influence those in
government to act from Christian principles and attitudes. Christians, realizing
they do not have a lasting home here, should pray and work for justice and peace
in Canada and throughout the world, so that all God’s people may share in the
goods of this earth. God’s kingdom will come only when all people are ready to let
Christ’s teaching guide and rule their lives and actions. (referenced from Ordo
2019-20, page 281)
You, my brothers and sisters,
were called to be free.
But do not use your freedom
to indulge the flesh; rather
serve one another humbly in
love.

As with all other areas of Church and personal life, the Lay Formation Program has experienced significant disruptions this spring due to the restrictions in place to protect the most vulnerable of our population from COVID-19. As a result of careful discernment and close consultation with our current group of third-year graduates, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our usual graduation Mass until such a time as we are able to gather safely in sufficient numbers to provide our participants with a truly joy-filled celebration. Our third-year participants recognize that this may require an extended wait before they are able to have such a celebration; perhaps not until June of 2021, but feel this would provide them and their family members, parish representatives and friends with the best, and safest possible spirit-filled experience. We will keep your parish informed as to when such a celebration may occur as things progress. We would ask your continued prayers for our graduates: Alexis Abello – Our Lady of Assumption CoCathedral, Gravelbourg Don Hansen – Christ the King Parish, Regina Nikola (Nino) Orlic – Resurrection Parish, Regina Carla Plosker – Holy Rosary Cathedral, Regina Annette Polasek – Christ the King Parish, Regina Greg Makuch – Christ the King, Regina They have officially completed all of their requirements to graduate from our three-year program of adult faith formation. We pray that, even as we continue to experience restrictions, they may be spirit-filled instruments of grace in their homes, parishes, and the world. Peace and God Bless, Deacon Eric Gurash
Catechism of the Catholic Church - CCC 2277 “Whatever its motives and means, direct euthanasia consists in putting an end to the lives of handicapped, sick, or dying persons. It is morally unacceptable. Thus an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder gravely contrary to the dignity of the human person and to the respect due to the living God, his Creator. The error of judgement into which one can fall in good faith does not change the nature of this murderous act, which must always be forbidden and excluded.”
When saints guide us to fulfill our Christian duty, it is because they know what they are talking about. Charity toward the sick lately has been about offering euthanasia or an easy death to alleviate pain and suffering. Saints would offer their sorrows for the good of another. They would pray that God would use their suffering for a greater good. Are you in pain and feeling hopeless? Feeling that sickness is winning and taking away your peace? Offer your infirmities for your family, your neighbors, your friends. Offer your prayers so that God may walk with you on this journey that will give you comfort to settle your soul. Offering something for the good of the other is real love, whereas turning inwards about our own lack in life, is despair.
Pastoral Council is looking for a secretary for our meetings who would take notes and send out the minutes to pastoral council members. Before COVID - we had decided to meet every couple months or so on a Saturday morning.
Please contact either: Father Steve at [email protected] or Karen McBride (pastoral chairperson) at [email protected]
First Martyrs of the Holy Roman Church Feast Day - June 30th
To be accused of something you did not do and to die for it as well seems to be a grave injustice. Emperor Nero blamed Christians for setting the fire that broke out in the year 64 AD. Nero was held suspect but he quickly shifted the blame. Even though no one really believed the Christians would burn the city, according to the historian, Tacitus, they were still seized and some put to death.
By God’s great glory, they have become martyrs of the faith for the world to see their example.

TF197: An Interview With Transitional Deacon Chris LindenbachWeeks before his ordination to the Transitional Diaconate, Deacon Eric Gurash had a chance to talk with Seminarian Chris Lindenbach about his life, his vocation, and this thing we call ‘discernment’...Show Snippet: “They talk about any time you make any sort of commitment you make this big ‘yes’ and then that’s sustained by all these little yeses. And so the big yes for me was to go to the seminary and say okay God, if this is where you are calling me to go, as St. Ignatius said, you discern it to the end whatever that end may be and so for me that big yes was to go down the road not knowing where it will end but trusting that God will lead me and be with me.”https://thinkingfaith.libsyn.com/an-interview-with-transition-al-deacon-chris-lindenbach

“…whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:38)
Pope Benedict XVI said, “The world offers you comfort. But you were not made for comfort, you were made for greatness.” “Comfort” puts me first. “Picking up your cross and following Jesus” puts God and others first. Why settle for comfort when you can achieve greatness! Pick up your cross, ask Jesus for guidance on using your gifts and live the life God intended for you!
