PRESIDENT REPORT

A new year is beginning, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a prosperous New Year. Our Presentation and Christmas Party night went off very well with a good attendance I would like to congratulate all the prize winners. A list appears further in the Magazine. Late in December the NSW Hillclimb panel released the regulations for 2013. These regulations can be read on the NSW Hillclimb Panel web site there were very little changes to the 2012 regulations. These regulations were discussed by members at several General Meetings during the year and the club wrote to CAMS executive and the Hillclimb Panel expressing our disappointment at these regulations which prevented club members, who competed in our State Hillclimb events and were not registered, not being able to compete fairly in their class during the 2 days. The committee held a special meeting late in December and decided to reject these regulations and not to run the state rounds in 2013. We have immediately applied for CAMS permit’s to hold Multi Club Hillclimb’s on the weekend that we would have held the State Round’s. I hope there will be a good turnout at the next General Meeting in January to discuss this matter further. As already advised the first two Motorkhana’s will be held in the back of the pits during the 12 hour race 9/10 February 2013 as we have done in previous years. Two gain entry to the pit area you will need passes which will be issued to us early in the week before that weekend. We need to present a list of competitors to obtain these passes. So please advise me if you are attending before Monday 4 February 2013. This year we have members competing in the Targa Tasmania and 2 others preparing a car for the 2014 Sydney to London Rally. We hope to hear from some of these members in further Blower’s as to their preparation for these events and their progress along the way. If you are participating in some special event please let the Blower editor know so we can keep members informed of your progress and eventual outcome. Robert Wells

• Esses Hillclimb 24 November 2012 – Robert Wells informed the members present that the recent Hillclimb proved to be a great event with all competitors having six runs at the course with no incidents. Although the profit from the event would be down considerably owing to it being reduced to one day early figures indicate the profit to the club will be approximately $4000. The club have applied to council for our regularly Speed Weekend for 2013 with dates of 30 November and 1st December 2013 being set if track conditions permit

• WRX Club – Robert Wells spoke of recent correspondence with members of the WRX Club who have expressed an interest in competing at BLCC events in 2013. Some of their members recently competed in the AHC and were delighted with the event. They have also mentioned that the club will be running a Khanacross at the Sheep and Cattle Drome in October 2013 if any BLCC members would be interested in competing

• BLCC Christmas Party and Presentation Night – Robert Wells mentioned to

members that the Christmas Party is being held on Saturday 8 December 2013 and asked that any member available on the evening of Friday 7 December from 7pm was encouraged to help the committee set up the clubrooms for the party. Tickets are available from Windsor Automotive and Robinsons Auto Repairs at a cost of $45.00 and $25.00 for Junior members. Happy Hour would be from 6pm to 7pm.

• Disabled Parking Space – Robert Wells mentioned to members present that the concrete pad at the rear of the clubrooms had been laid as a Disabled Parking Space and recently a person in a wheelchair had not been able to use this due to members

parking in that area. He asked that members please keep this space clear and there was discussion regarding the erecting of signage to alert members.

• 2013 BLCC Calendar – John Windsor asked about his request to include additional events in the 2013 calendar for The Quarry. Robert Wells stated that there were now 5 Motorkhanas and 5 Khanacrosses in the calendar. There had been discussion by the Committee regarding the possibility of changing one of the Motorkhanas to be held in conjunction with the 12 Hour Race to a Khanacross and it was decided that due to possible safety issues the events would remain as two Motorkhanas

• Additional Advertising of Quarry Events – Cec Evans asked if there was any possibility that a BLCC Banner could be erected at the Showground advertising The Quarry and its events. David Robinson stated that all prospective advertising at that site had to go before the Showground Trust for approval. There was then open discussion regarding advertising of The Quarry and its events and suggestion were made by members including the adding of signage to the current sign in front of the clubrooms advertising coming events at The Quarry. This sign is in the process of being re written. Neil Bayliss very generously offered to assist with the sign writing. Brian Nightingale could also make mention of coming events at The Quarry and will be issued with club calendar to assist him. John Markwick also mentioned that Quarry events could be noted in Council News that appears in the Western Advocate on a Saturday Morning.

• Access to McPhillamy Park during Hillclimb – Paul Catt spoke of his difficulty in gaining access to McPhillamy Park on the afternoon of the Esses Hillclimb and stated that there were enough signs stating Road Closed however there were none giving directions to alternative access. David Robinson was adamant that he had fully informed competitors at Drivers Briefing about the changes to access after 12 midday. It was necessary to change signage due to a shoot being conducted by the Gun Club making Barry Gurdon Drive inaccessible. John Windsor and Trevor Seaman both mentioned that members of the public will use any excuse to try and get through the barriers and many of them state that there is no mentioned of road closures on BLCC website. It was thought that they would need to access council website for this information.

• Australian Hillclimb Championship – David Robinson gave a brief report of the AHC stating that it had been a very successful event with 142 entries. Competitors all had required amount of runs and to date it looks like the profit to the club will be in the vicinity of $25,000 after expenses. The timing gear had performed faultlessly with Jeff West stating it had recorded 1127 runs up the course with no miss times. Phil Ryan, who had a nasty accident at the event appears to be recovering well and is already in the process of building another vehicle
