Resits, Course Deferrals and Assessment Timings

From the 2020/1 academic year the school is introducing somechanges to postgraduate resits and deferred assessments. If you are a2020 starter and need to defer or resit, these changes will help you tocomplete your studies as soon as possible. Currently, students thatdefer or fail and need to resit must wait until the next academic year toattempt their assessment.

These changes mean that LSE will be making some revisions to theregulations relating to your studies and to the way your degree awardis classified. The changes will ensure that the rules that underpin yourstudies work to support you. Further information about the revisionscan be found here. The updated regulations and ClassificationSchemes will be available online in the next few months along withmore details about the assessment periods relating to your study.

Finally, the School is also making changes to the timing of someassessments, with some exams for courses that are taught during theMichaelmas Term (September to December) moving from the summerexam period to the January exam period. Full information about howcourses are assessed and assessment deadlines/timing of exams willbe available in June 2020. If there are changes to the timing ofassessments in compulsory courses for your programme we will writeto you with further information in July 2020.
