Our MissionWe connect mind and spirit so individuals, families, organizations and communities thrive.

  • You helped grow our impact in 2016. Thank you!How does an organization that’s been making a difference for 46 years stay relevant and innovative? With your help!

Samaritan saw incredible growth in 2016. This growth could only happen with the support of friends like you.

You believe in our mission. You get behind it. You share Samaritan with others. That’s what grew our services and support in 2016.

You, Samaritan, our clients and our community’s youth are growing together. We couldn’t be more grateful.

POINT (Poverty Outcomes and Improvement Network Team)In February 2016, Samaritan engaged in POINT, a regional initiative funded by the Basic Needs Giving Partnership. POINT equips nonprofits with continuous improvement tools focused on poverty reduction. (See usventure.com/POINT.htm for more information.) Samaritan’s aim to increase our successful counseling discharge rate has supercharged our focus on client outcomes and enhanced access to care.

Fox Valley Ethics in Business SummitMore than 220 community leaders and businesspeople attended our second annual ethics summit. Our partners invested more than $64,000 in the idea that good ethics mean good mental health for employees, their families and their communities. Those funds helped increase access to mental health care.

Samaritan and NAMI Fox Valley deepened our partnership in 2016 through two collaborative initiatives:

Mental Health Ministry InitiativeSamaritan and NAMI Fox Valley collaborated to equip faith leaders as mental health “first responders,” hosting 40 guests at a May 2016 workshop on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma. We also engaged 18 faith communities in a six-session Faith Leader Mental Health Integration series that started in September 2017. Support from the Cathryn Probst Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region made the inaugural series possible. The series will be repeated in 2017-18.

Spanish Language Mental Health CenterIn late 2016, Samaritan and NAMI Fox Valley received a three-year, $295,920 grant from the Basic Needs Giving Partnership Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region supported by the U.S. Venture Fund for Basic Needs, the J. J. Keller Foundation and other community partners. The initiative commenced in 2017 with collaborative Spanish-language services for Latino clients.

Sarah’s StoryYou built up and restored my faith in counseling as a method to repair my mental stability. The addiction counseling I received was phenomenal and helped me to continue a clean and sober life still to this day.

I couldn’t thank you enough for all you have done and helped me accomplish.

Connected Community Wellness Screen prevents suicide with free school-based mental health check-ups. The computerized check-up asks about symptoms of common, treatable mental health concerns. Wellness Screen case managers connect families of students with concerns to care. During the 2016-17 academic year, 10 school systems invested in screenings for their students. Learn which schools, and get more info, at samaritan-counseling.com/schools-and-partners

Our 2016 surplus arose as a result of significant grants received to grow services in 2017. These grants support expanded AODA services in Oshkosh; wraparound care management in the Fox Cities; and the launch of a Menasha-based Spanish-language mental health center with NAMI Fox Valley.
