The people of Yps ihnt i con trib n ted $14,000 for the erect.ion of a su i table bu i ld i ng, i n t;Onsid­eration of th6 location of the School in that c i ty , ancl i t was opened for pupils i n October, 1852. Since that t ime, for n i neteen yean:i, the School has hc1d i ts regular annual· sessions.

Every nwmbtr of the House of Representatives of Mich­igan has a right to appoin t two students to the Normal Schc,ol from h i s D i strict, who wi l l be acl rnittecl on the same condi tions as other candidates , except that they are exempt from the pa,yrnent of any term fees.

Every studen t, un less ho holds a State Representative's appoin tment, is requi red to pay a foe of six dollars at the begin n ing of the vVin ter Term, and four dol lars at the beginn i ng of the Summer Term.

Board ancl rooms can be obtained in private houses i n the c ity, at rates varying from $3.50 to $5.00 per week. Many students, by " clubb ing," considerably reduce thei r expenses. Others arc i n the hab i t of boarding themselves, whereby their necessary expenses are brought with i n a very moderate sum.
