THE FIRST CAMPUS DIRECTORS OF PSHS-MRC AND PSHS-ZRC Hon. Fortunato T. De La Peña, Secretary of the Department of Science
and Technology officiated the Oath Tak-ing of PSHS System’s two new Campus Directors, on August 4, 2016, at the
PSHS System, Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City.
Mr. Edward C. Albaracin and Mr. Louie C. Jamora are the first campus di-
rectors of PSHS-MRC and PSHS-ZRC respectively. They both assumed duty on August 1, 2016. (continued on page 2)

ODIONGAN AND DIPOLOG CITY: SITES OF TWO NEW PSHS CAMPUSES
PSHS-MRC and PSHS-ZRC complete the 16 PSHS campuses around the country.
On their first year of operations, PSHS
MIMAROPA Region Campus (PSHS-MRC) will temporarily operate at Romblon Convention Cen-ter, Odiongan, Romblon. Photo below shows the

PSHS Zamboanga Peninsula Region Campus (PSHS-ZRC) will temporarily operate at Dipolog
Sports Complex, Barangay Olingan, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. Photo above shows the tem-porary facilities of PSHS-ZRC.

THE FIRST CAMPUS DIRECTORS OF PSHS-MRC AND PSHS-ZRC From Page 1 Mr. Albaracin was the Chief of Curriculum and Instruction Services Division in PSHS Western Visayas Campus and a PSHS Alumnus of this campus. Mr. Jamora was formerly the Associate Professor and Department Chair in Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology, a state college in Masbate.
PSHS won 2nd and 3rd Place in the 5th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APT JSO) held at the University of the Philippines – Los Baños on June 12 to 18, 2016. Second Place was earned by PSHS Cagayan Valley Campus’ scholars Jose Benjamin Dela Cruz, Mark Ely Namoro, and Hannah Keren Duque. Third Place was bagged by PSHS Central Visayas Cam-pus’ scholars Francis Jether S. Siao, Joseph Karl C. Salva Jr., and Sean Dominic T. Abella. Carrying the theme “Climate Change and the Rainforest” this year, APT JSO involved Project Pitching by Mixed Country
Groups (40%), Laboratory Skills Assessment (50%), and Poster Presentation (10%) to determine the GRAND CHAMPION.

The Philippines nabbed not just one, but two gold medals in the prestigious mathematics competition in the world—the International Mathe-matical Olympiad (IMO).
Young math wiz-ards Farrell Eldrian S. Wu of MGC New Life Chris-tian Academy and Kyle Patrick F. Dulay of Phil-ippine Science High School – Main Campus, both veterans in the IMO and other international math competitions, scored 30 and 29 points, respec-tively, to secure the first ever set of gold medals in history for the country.

Classes officially opened on August 8, 2016 in PSHS-MRC and PSHS-ZRC. MRC welcomed 29 Grade 7 scholars coming from the fol-lowing regions of the country: National Capital Region ——- 1 Central Luzon ——- 1 CALABARZON ——- 2 MIMAROPA ——- 23 Western Visayas ——- 2
Meanwhile, ZRC opened with 47 Grade 7 scholars from: National Capital Region ——- 3 Eastern Visayas ——- 1 Zamboanga Peninsula ——- 35 Central Mindanao ——- 6 SOCCSKSARGEN ——- 1 ARMM ——- 1
The objective of the estab-lishment of new campuses is to provide scholarship to more gift-ed youth in the different areas of the country.

on the procedures, and rules and regulations of the dormitory.
With the full-support of the outgoing Mayor Evelyn Uy, the
City Mayor’s Office transformed the right wing of the Sports
Complex into four classrooms, laboratories, and offices.
