Welcome to the digital version Of the Bikers Trading PostThe Bikers Trading Post will now be published monthly as a digital magazine. We have been making some bigchanges. Now, instead of being a one man show, we're teaming up with others to make us more of a communitymagazine. This will let us cover more and publish a lot more of all the events that you are going to. We now havepeople in Erie and Crawford Counties and I think one in Washington and Fayette County. We are a local publicationand dealing with local happenings. Yes we will cover a few of the bigger shows that a lot of you follow but weunderstand you have no interest in a poker run in Kentucky. We will not be limited to the per page cost like in thenormal printed publications. You can download the whole magazine and save it and you may take it to a printer andprint part of it or all of it. The calendar is sideways in the view mode so you can print it to hang. Most of the articleswill have links and they are in red and labeled. If you click on that link it will take youto the albums of photos or a video slide show from the event and you are welcome to right click in them to downloadand use for any non-commercial use. Please give us credit if you put them on your pages. You can take them and getprints of you and your friends if they were at one of the events that we covered. We have a facebook page that if youclick on it will take you to a current list of the events that are happening in our area. At this time we have listed 333events past and present for 2015 in Western Pa. https://www.facebook.com/thebikerstradingpost Please check it outand friend us, and please feel free to share anything on that page you want to.Now with that all being said this is a biker magazine. We are covering the bike life, style and events. We work hard totry and keep things clean but if something is happening in the background and we miss it, OH WELL. If you areoffended by off color jokes and photos of people getting crazy and photos of girls on bikes you are at the wrong place. This month one of our features is East Coast Motorcycle Rally ( formally known as East Coast Sturgis ) There were alot of naked people in the background and I could not use most of the bike game photos so you are warned.

We are looking for people who go to a lot of the events and would like to do sales and also cover a few events. We aretrying to keep the areas to about one county each, so after you get set up you could cover it in 2 or 3 days a month. Weare offering a great sales incentive so if you are looking for a little money on the side please get in touch with us. Wewill also be looking for bikes to feature in the magazine along with models for on the bikes.

Anyone that is going to an event and wants to share it with us please e-mail us at [email protected]. Ifyou would like to join us in sales, covering events and getting published please let us know.

This month we are starting to have a monthly contest. It is located on the last of the Biker Friendly Pages. Check it outand enter. I will apologies because we made the decision and put it together on the day that we were going to press.

For a free download to print the calendar click here

Please when you are checking our an event and you see this button clickon it. It will take you to an album that has all the photos from that event.WIN 2 t-shirts from New Castle Harley and The Bikers Trading Post

POLICE OFFICER MEMORIALMOTORCYCLE RUN.

Saturday September 26th was a very busy day forme with many things going on but I had to make itup to Greenville for the start of the POLICEOFFICER MEMORIAL MOTORCYCLE RUN.This run was in honor of a 10 year veteran policeofficer Jeremiah Christner who, with his sonJeremiah Jr., was killed in a accident on 8-20-2015in Greenville, just down the road from their home.

Jeremiah Christner Sr. was a police officer inGreenville for the last 10 years. He also workedpart time in Jamestown and Sharon. He would carryaround stuffed animals in his police car and handthem to kids he would see playing in their yard orwalking. He was a very well known and lovedperson in our community, especially among thechildren of the area. He enjoyed his job as anofficer. Christner touched a lot of lives in the town. The 10 year veteran of the police department was apatrolman and also served as a DARE instructor forseveral years. Christner was a father of eight kids.

Both Jeremiahs were also very well knownChristians.

POLICE OFFICER MEMORIALMOTORCYCLE RUN.

A devoted family man, Jeremiah married the former Sherry A. Scriven on May 26, 1995. Hecherished his time with his children and was always present and supportive of their manyactivities. In addition, he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Jeremiah Lee Christner Jr.was born Sept. 3, 1997. Jeremiah attended Living Word ChristianAcademy and Performing Arts School, West Salem Township, where he was set to begin hissenior year. At the school, he participated with the worship team, show choir and drum line. Hewas also a member of Living Word Christian Center where he was active with the churchworship team, childrens ministry and church missions.

In addition to going to school, he worked a part-time job at Greenville Dairy Queen.

Since a young age, Jeremiah had been extremely gifted in music and was able to play manydifferent instruments. His other interests included riding dirt bikes and ATVs and spendingmany days in the outdoors with his brothers.

POLICE OFFICER MEMORIALMOTORCYCLE RUN.

The run was lead by Freddy Scriven(Jeremiah's Sr. Brother in law) who droveJeremiah Christners Harley. In attendancewere 80 people for just the dinner and 112people for the ride. We had over 70 bikes and36 sponsors. The money raised will be usedfor 3 scholarships, one each to be be given to aGreenville graduate, a Commodore Perrygraduate, and a Living Word Christian Schoolgraduate and. They will be giving some of it tothe church these two attended, as well ashelping to assist his wife and children.

I want to thank Chrissy Armagost for theinformation that she provided here. She startedthis run on her own and ran with it. In lessthan 3 weeks time with a few friends help theypulled it off and had a excellent turn out. Sheinformed me that Jeremiah Sr was a goodfriend of mine and my husbands. He also wasmy husbands best man at our wedding. Hetruly was an inspiration for our communityand his son was a spitting image of his dad. They were truly good people. The localmoose club 276 made this their monthly rideto support our friends.

I was invited by BJ McMullan to check out the ProRidercourse in Pittsburgh on September 20th that was being heldat GPMC Parking Lot on Masonic Way. I have taken theBasic course from the Pennsylvania Motorcycle SafetyProgram so I thought I had a clue as to what to expect. FirstBJ is a full-time Police Motor officer with the city ofPittsburgh PA. In his duties there he rides his motorcyclerain or shine and even in the harsh Pittsburgh winters wherethey installs a sidecar to his Harley. He became a motorofficer in 2006 and after mastering his skills he moved onand became a certified Police Motor Instructor. He teachesan 80 hour police motorcycle certification course to policeofficers and medics in the Greater Pittsburgh Region, he alsore-certifies them in a 40 hour training course each year.Through the Pro Rider course he teaches advancedtechniques to civilian motorcycle riders.

During the 8 hour ProRider Advanced Skills Course theywill teach how to better handle the motorcycle that they ownon the road and at slow speeds. This program willincorporate the techniques learned and mastered by policemotorcycle officers, and will improve the riding abilities ofeven the most seasoned rider. In this course the riders will

"Bond" with their personal motorcycles and familiarizewith the bikes' full capabilities and limitations

Learn and practice slow-speed techniques that are perfectfor those pesky parking lots and tight turnarounds (...andwhen you want to impress your friends, or passenger).

Practice braking, evasive maneuvers, and hazard avoidanceexercises that may save your ride and hide from seriousdamage, injury or death.

When I arrived BJ along with Jeff Vesci and Dale Rublewere teaching the slow turns in the figure eight. They hadtwo courses set up so all of the riders had plenty of time topractice and having 3 instructors there they kept everyonequite busy. Talking to some of the attendees they all seemedto come out much better riders than when they went in. Oneof the was on their fifth return and told me that is is worth itevery time and BJ replied that he sees great improvement ineach return trip. This is something that all seasoned riderscan gain from. When we were all don the three of them did ademonstration. They ran the course with one standing on theseat and one riding side saddle showing they do not evenneed to use brakes. For more information check them out athttp://www.proridermc.com/Pittsburgh.php. Thank you BJfor the invite and I will be seeing you soon.

I got a text from G-man about a real differenttype of a bike night on Thursday, September17th and I had to check it out. It was held atthe Sunnyview Nursing and RehabilitationCenter. There was a nice small group of bikesand the people interacted with the residentsfor the evening It was real nice to see all ofthe residents enjoying themselves as they saton the porch for the evening and mingledaround the bikes. I had one elderly gentlemantelling me about his 1963 Sportster. Thepeople had a great time with the bikes and thebikers, and it is always nice to see bikersshown in a positive light.

I'm sorry but I just have to tell someone - anyone who will listen about the fucking guy who has recently moved inwith us…

So, we live in a 2 bedroom apartment and the other room is just a spare one we would use for when friends cameround, so it's mostly going to waste... My girlfriends parents were quite lonely after their children left the house andhad enough money to retire young so they decided to adopt. Phil's mother abandoned him after birth and the fatherwas nowhere to be seen. He had lived with my in-laws his whole life and they honestly gave him everything he couldever want. He seemed really great to be honest, I'd met him twice before when we went to visit and he was reallyfriendly. The only weird thing was that both times I'd met him he had a black eye, but I didn't know him well enoughto ask him about it and he was a kinda quiet guy anyway so it didn't feel right to intrude.

Cut to a few weeks ago some random life shit came up and Phil couldn't stay with my girlfriends parents anymore. He really needed somewhere to stay since he couldn't pay rent since he didn't have a job. We spoke about it andagreed that we have the spare room and since he was a huge part of her parents life that he could stay with us for abit. They dropped him off the next day and although he was really sad to leave them at first he seemed happy enoughwhen we showed him his room. We had something to eat, had a bit to drink and went to sleep and that was that.

The first week went by without incident and I was working a lot so wasn't home much but then I had a week off andit was then I started to notice some weird things about this guy. The first being that he hadn't showered or taken abath since he'd gotten here. I didn't want to be rude but I could notice that he was starting to stink a little bit. I cameup with the brilliant idea to show him the new shower head we bought that has different settings like massage andpulse (can't help but feel this purchase was more for my girlfriend than me) so I said "Hey, come see this for asecond, I have something cool to show you." and started over to the shower room (We have separate toilet andshower/bath rooms). As I got into the shower room I turned around and noticed that he wouldn't come in. He justkinda stood in the doorway staring at me with this stupid expression on his face. I turned the shower on to try andshow him the different settings and he just fucking walked away and into his room. Alright, I did think it was a bitweird but everyone's different right?

Next day I come into the kitchen to get my lunch ready for work and the floor near the sink is a bit wet. It was hard totell because the floor is wooden and the lighting isn't great in our kitchen but I could have sworn it looked like piss. Icleaned it up anyway and brought it up with my girlfriend after I finished work. She said it was probably just waterfrom when she washed up the night before. I agreed and pushed it out of my mind. I woke up in the middle of thenight because I heard Phil's door open so I quietly walk into the kitchen. Sure enough this guy is pissing on the floor.I don't know what to do so I shout at him and he just fucking runs past me back into his room. I wake my girlfriendup and tell her what I saw and she assures me she'll speak with him tomorrow while I'm at work.

I get home from work that next day and she says she's dealt with it wont be a problem again. Fine, whatever. She tellsme not to tell him off and just to be normal with him, he's probably having a hard time adjusting to living somewhereelse. I see her point of view and so we decide to watch a film all together that evening. Evening rolls around andwe're in the living room all together watching the film. My girlfriend had text me before I got home from work thatshe had made some food for her and Phil and they've already eaten so I should pick some food up for myself on theway home so I did and got a pizza. Let me set the scene for you; I'm sat in the middle of the couch with my girlfriendon one side, Phil on the other side and my pizza box open on the table in front of us and a nice big slice hanging frommy hand. I see it happen in slow motion, nothing in life has prepared me for this so I literally do not move for I haveno previous information coded into my brain for how to react. Phil, this motherfucker just reached over and grabbedmy slice of pizza straight from my hand and started eating it. I sit there for a few seconds, dumbfounded, flabbergasted, all of the ridiculous adjectives. Finally I turn and ask him what the fuck that was. He just sits therestaring at me. I ask him again and raise my voice a bit and he just gets off the couch and walks into his room. Wedon't see him the rest of the evening.

Humor to relieve Humor to relieve stressI know my girlfriend really thinks a lot of Phil because he's kindof her family in a way and he really did give a lot back to herparents while they raised him. She tells me that she knows it wasstrange but that he just needs a bit more time to adjust to livingwith other people. I agree and don't bring it up again.

A few days go by and things are quiet and uneventful when I'mtold I have to go on a day training course the other side of thecountry. (England, don't worry, few hours on the train.) So Ibook a hotel for the night and when the day comes round I leavein good spirits, telling my girlfriend to text me if there are anyproblems.

My training course went fine, I met up with some old colleaguesand ended up drinking in the hotel bar with them. I retire to myhotel room quite late and decide to check Facebook before Isleep when I notice I have unread messages from my girlfriend. They were just a run down of how things were going.Apparently her and Phil had some food together and watchedsome tv, then because it was a nice evening they went on a longwalk together. Ok, I'm not really a jealous guy so no big deal. Ikeep reading and my heart drops, she goes on to say that aftershe got into bed she couldn't sleep because it was lonely withoutme so she went to the kitchen to make a snack. Phil was upgetting a drink and apparently a chance meeting in a kitchenearly in the morning was enough to betray the person you'vebeen in a relationship with for three years because she said sheinvited him into bed with her. I was angry, I felt sick. I didn'tknow what to do.

I got the earliest train back I could and stormed into the housefurious. I opened our bedroom door and sure enough found mygirlfriend asleep actually cuddled up to Phil in bed with her.

Anyway, it was super cute and to cut a long story short our dogis allowed to sleep in our bed now.

My wife asked me to buy

ORGANIC vegetablesMy wife asked me to buy ORGANIC vegetables from themarket. I went and looked around and couldn't find any.

So I grabbed an old, tired looking employee and said, "Thesevegetables are for my wife. Have they been sprayed with anypoisonous chemicals?"

"The produce guy looked at me and said, "No. You'll have to dothat yourself."

Working for a magazine has certain benefits.Working for a magazine like The BikersTrading Post has a whole list of benefits thatother magazines dont. Sure, any magazine canget press passes, but having a reader baseinterested in tattoos got me into the third annualSteel City Tattoo Convention at the David L.Lawrence Convention Center, put on by ShaneONeill Productions, which was right up myalley.

Jim and I got in on both the first and last daysof the convention, where we got to see artistsjust getting started, and the same folkswrapping up after a long weekend. We arrivedearly, and many of the artists werent tattooingyet when we got there, but were instead millingaround, mingling with other artists, meetingpeople face to face that theyve known byreputation or over the internet, and discussingtheir plans for the weekend. We were told thatFriday was more of a social event than anythingelse, where people talk and show off theirdedication to the craft. There were more than120 different booths set up, and many boothshad multiple artists tattooing for the weekend, plus there were vendors with clothing, tattoogear and supplies, jewelry, aftercare products, and more. Anyone interested in tattoos or theculture at all could find something to pique theirinterest at this convention, where one could notonly get some new ink, but also observehundreds of other people getting new ink, andtalk to artists about the craft. We perusedportfolios from people all around the country, showing styles ranging from Americantraditional and neo-traditional to realistic, gothic, abstract, and modern styles likewatercolor tattoos, and saw scores of tattoosbeing done while we were there.

Steel City Tattoo ConventionThe first thing that really caught my eye was a tattoo really just being started. Cody Henningsfrom Lewisville, TX. was stenciled, and had most of the outline done, but visually there wasnothing special going on as he tattooed an abstract image of a butterfly and big cat on awomans stomach. However, as I looked at it, I knew it would be something special. Whilewalking around the convention seeing other artists, I kept returning to his booth to check out theprogress. As the day went, and as Chris packed more and more color into the lines hed laid out, this image really started to pop. Out of everything I saw over something like 10 hours in twodays of the convention, this was hands down my favorite piece, and his subject took it like achamp, chatting with us and never squirming that I saw.

Game Over Tattoo from Edinboro, PA hadan awesome functional display piece withhim that really caught my eye. Instead of anindustrial looking travel kit, he had anantique piece of luggage similar to what asalesman would have used years ago. Istopped to look at it, and asked him about it,and he shared that it is an homage to hisgrandfather, who carried one like it on salesyears before. He then shared that hes a thirdgeneration tattoo artist, so I understand whyits important for him to honor hispredecessors in the family!

Steel City Tattoo ConventionMany people go to tattoo conventions just for thetattoo contests. Over the weekend they had contestsfor 16 different categories, ranging from best tattooto worst tattoo, most unique, and more. Sundayscontests were the broadest categories, including thebest color and best black and grey pieces. There werea ton of people lined up to show off their art, and winbragging rights for their artists. Sunday we got towatch the Best Black and Grey in both large andsmall sized, and the Best Color in both large andsmall sizes. These are some of the highlights.

Page 36: October The Bikers Trading Post

Steel City Tattoo ConventionThe true high point of the weekend for me was the sideshow act, Inkllusionist, which I had thepleasure of enjoying Sunday afternoon. The brothers Syxx and SeVen OBrien are not only talentedtattoo artists with more than 20 years of experience, but are also expert showmen who put on a hellof a production of illusion and spectacle. They climbed onto the stage to the fanfare of music, andescorted by the lovely Target Girl Z (whose name would later make sense), showing off hundredsof hours of ink on their bodies.

Mr. Syxx introduced the act, discussing how a good audience hopes to see the performers injured. They started off mild, with Dr. SeVen inserting a nail into his nose without noticeable harm, andperformed several traditional illusions and magic tricks. Ive seen someone lay on a bed of nails, and Ive seen cinder blocks smashed on someones stomach, but their twist to it with twin beds ofnails and an audience member standing on top was new for me. The best part of this wasntnecessarily the action taking place, as much as it was the way the brothers enjoyed the show, andthe rapport between the two of them, as was evidenced by them teasing each other about parentallove, and even ribbing that audience volunteer about how her butt was cute, and thats why she waschosen.

As their act continued, it escalated to throwing knives, and they pulled an audience member toparticipate in this one, as well. This one was chosen randomly, and they ended up with the man Dr.SeVen was in the middle of tattooing. Talk about an experience here, where this man not only gotan awesome tattoo, but his artist paused in the middle to tease him in front of an audience, andthrow knives at him! He was a great sport about it, and even held a balloon in his mouth whileSeVen popped it with an enormous throwing knife.

Page 37: October The Bikers Trading Post

Steel City Tattoo Convention After the show I talked with both of the brothers, andexpressed my appreciation for their showmanship. They werefriendly and affable, and it was a pleasure to meet two men whoare both so talented in multiple areas. I got to watch the DiabolicalDr. SeVen work on finishing the tattoo on the customer whoended up on stage with them, and really enjoyed his Star Warstattoo. The tattoo might not be a great example of their neo-Victorian style, but it definitely showed the nerdy side that waswell represented in their portfolios, which was something else Ireally enjoyed about them. When I thanked Mr. Syxx forentertaining me, he pointed out that a major point of their show isthat they dont take themselves too seriously, and that theyre outto enjoy themselves. I think this was obvious, and it really madethe show great for me.

I stopped at Peter Bs Thunder At TheBarn in Sarver, PA for their last bike nightof the year on September 16th. To startwith, who can go wrong with an addresslike 111 Rock N Roll Lane. They call itlike we all like it. Babes, Bands, Beersand Bikes. Can you ask for anythingbetter? Gatto Harley was there with theirtent set up next to a one man band thatcould really cover the music. His name isPaul Joseph, and he is the leadvocalist/guitarist for the band Wine &Spirit. This bike night brought some realinteresting bikes along with a lot ofinteresting people. The crowd was prettygood but this time of the year it is gettingdark so early. Hopefully I will be able torun out here on a night in the middle ofthe summer next year.

WERA Motorcycle Roadracing

I was invited to watch and photograph theWERA Motorcycle Roadracing at thePittsburgh International Race Complex. This isonly about 10 miles from where I live, and Ihave never been there before. It is a 400 acrecomplex in the rolling hills of Wampum,Pennsylvania just off the PA Turnpike, BeaverValley Exit 13, 45 miles northwest ofPittsburgh. They have a full circuit track that is2.8 miles with 19 corners.

WERA has is the largest roadracingorganization in terms of members, hasestablished roadracing in many parts of thecountry where no viable program previouslyexisted and has maintained an unparalleledsafety record. WERA takes pride in its role asAmericas only national organization devotedexclusively to the advancement, operation andsanctioning of motorcycle roadracing. Since itsestablishment in 1973. They give their riders asafe source to use all the power and handlingyour machine was designed with, withoutworrying about speeding tickets, traffichazards, pedestrians, erratic or drunk drivers orany of the other nagging realities of todaysstreet world.

Page 41: October The Bikers Trading Post

I was totally surprised by what I saw there andthe people who were there. First I am used tophotographing the motorcycles sitting still andthe only thing moving is a model. Havingnever been there before, I asked where wouldhave a good vantage point for photographing, and after making me hug her, the lovely ladyworking for the race pointed out a location onthe other side of the track. When I asked herhow to get there she said get on the track anddrive it. My first thought was getting thatChrysler minivan on the track and seeing howfast it would go, but then reality sank back intomy mind.

I got settled in to a spot that I thought wouldbe fine only to have the first motorcycle buzzpast me doing about 155 MPH. OK, now wehad to come up with a new game plan. Afterabout four moves walking on the outside of thetrack I started getting a grip to what works. Inmy 41 years of working as a photographer Ihave enough experience to make somethingwork no matter what situation I get put into. Ihad an experience being down there on thetrack watching the professionalism ofeveryone.

After the races I did have time to talk to someof the race teams. This track is the only one ofits type in this part of the country. I wastalking to one team from Buffalo, New Yorkand they call it their home track because it isthe closest of this type to them. Western Pa hasso many great facilities and places to go thatare very under utilized. I am hoping to spend alot more time at this location, and I really hopeto spend some more time with the great groupfrom the WERA Motorcycle Roadracing.
