Hayes Deaf Church will celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving on 20th October. We are pleased to welcome the Bishop of Edmonton, The Rt. Revd Robert Wickham. I am pleased to report that we are now sponsors of Meilin Suarez Franzua, a 6 year old Deaf girl who lives in the Dominican Republic. We are working with the Christian charity ‘Compassion’. We pray that our support will give Meilin a better chance in life as she receives education, medical care, food and is introduced to Jesus Christ as her Saviour. We will have regular updates on her progress Find out more by visiting www.compassionuk.org Westminster Abbey - St. Edward’s Pilgrimage Saturday 19th October 9.15am - 1pm Come and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Abbey without the tourists! A day of prayers and healing and freedom to explore the Abbey. There will be a Holy Communion service at 11.30am. BSL interpreter available (9-1pm). Free Entry. Welcome to our new minister in training! Many of you will know Sue Whalley and I am sure you will be pleased to know that she has just started her training as a Baptist Minister. Part of her training will include working in the London Deaf Churches and so we look forward to welcoming her among us. The BSL Christmas Carol Service will be Friday 6th December at 6.30pm at Annunciation Church, Marble Arch. If you would like to be part of the Shine Choir this year the practice dates are 8th, 22nd and 29th November from 6.30pm -8pm at Annunciation Church. Penny Beschizza will lead the choir. Please let the Chaplain know if you wish to join with us. The Gambia Interpreter Project was something we supported last year. Unfortunately Darren Townsend- Hanscombe has reported there have been several unexpected problems which may mean the intended plans will no longer be possible. It will be dicult to return the donations to original donors as some of the money is spent, but he will discuss with others the best way to use the remaining money. Church membership List We have been asked to make a list of all our members who are part of the London Deaf Churches. If you would usually attend services at Acton, Hayes or Enfield or any special church events please complete the enclosed form and return it to the Chaplain as soon as possible. This is about representing the Deaf church in the Church of England Synods. Did you know..that you should not pick blackberries after the 29th September? 29th September is the feast of St. Michael of All Angels, who fought with Satan and throw him out of heaven. Folk law says that Satan spat on the blackberries as he descended into Hell! Although this is just a tradition, blackberries never taste as good in October.
