October Meeting Grand Canyon Adventure by Allen Wilson Ten of us flew from Houston to Phoenix, rented a van and took off for the South Rim of the Grand Canyon just northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona. Of the ten, all have been or are serious marathoners except me. Only four have ever done any seri- ous Grand Canyon hiking. One of the others volunteered to drive the van around to the North Rim, about a 5 hour drive. This is needed as it is a bit of a sag wagon if someone gets into trouble. One or two had indicated in ad- vance they may not do the hike back so this was perfect. We were blessed with perfect weather and left the South Kaibab trailhead about 5:30 am for the first leg of the 21 mile S to N trek. Fast at first as it was downhill but the newbies were tentative. Eerie Blacklight

October Workshop

It's been awhile since we had a Blacklight

Workshop and they are a lot of fun. It's

surprising how many things we see every

day will pop under a black light. Vasoline

glass items are particularly good. We will

provide the required lights and some props

for a minimum of 3 set ups. Bring your tri-

pod and camera , lens and props that you

want to shoot in addition to the ones pro-

vided. Workshop will be on October 27,

7:00PM at the Tracy Gee Center.

previous workshops.
