PUBLIC HEARINGThe Rockdale County De-
partment of Planning and De-velopment, in collaboration with the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council, invites the public to a hearing and discussion on the Urban Redevelop-ment Plan at the Assembly Hall, Tuesday October 25, 2011 at 6:00pm. A brief pre-sentation of the project will be followed by a questions and comments session. The Assembly Hall is located at 901 Main Street, Conyers GA 30012.
The Board of Commission-ers passed a resolution of necessity to redevelop the Urban Redevelopment Area on October 11, 2011, and the County is required to hold a public hearing, pursuant to Georgia’s Urban Redevelop-ment Law (O.C.G.A. 36-61-7) before adopting the Urban Redevelopment Plan(URP). The URP will be presented to the Board of Commissioners for consideration on Novem-ber 8, 2011.
The intent of the Urban Redevelopment Plan is to stimulate interest in revitaliz-ing the 1,600-acre industrial area north of I-20 and along the Interstate corridor, be-tween DeKalb County and the City of Conyers. The area was selected for its deteriorating structures, environmental hazards and declining activ-ity. The adoption of a URP will allow the County to seek additional funding opportu-nities, and to guide private investment.
