Over the last month we have looked at what it means to be a Great Church. During this time we examined what the Greatest Commandment is and how we need to be worshipping God with all of ourselves, “as living sacrifices.”(Rom. 12:1) Then we moved on to the Great Commission as we find in Matthew 28:18-20 and examined that there are four action words: go, make disciples, baptizing them, teaching them. In those action words is the call to us to be involved in discipleship. From there we moved forward to the Great Compassion, looking at Ephesians 2:10. We are all created to do good works as the Holy Spirit has gifted us. Then we ended the series with a look at the Great Commitment.

If we are to become a Great Church it is going to take all of us looking at our personal relationship with Jesus and examining the next step to take. In order to help in that process we came up with two different cards that would give you a way to commit to helping us become a Great Church. God has called all of us to serve him with the gifts that we have been given.

The “Serve” card gives you a chance to sign up and get involved in ministries that are already happening here at Valley Mills or to write in something completely different. In order for us to be able to reach those who are in our community and to serve our church family well, we need all hands on deck doing ministry together. If you have not yet filled out a “Serve” card I want to encourage you to pick one up or

go online and fill it out. Get involved in serving and helping God create a Great Church here at Valley Mills.

The final week we gave out a “Commitment” card. This card has several different options on it for those who have been to Valley Mills a long time or a short amount of time. If you are ready to make a decision for Christ or feel that God has given you the spiritual gift of giving, then we ask you to fill out a card and get it back to us.

All of this is designed to help us understand what it is going to take for Valley Mills to become a Great Church. We want to see people accepting Jesus, serving in the church and committed to giving as God has asked us. I want to get everyone involved in this. Don’t sit on the sidelines just because you have been here a long time or because you just started coming. Get involved and see what God does in your life!

The Valley Mills family is invited to join us on this evening of family fun! The movies selected are “Rio” and “Blind Side”. The movies will begin at 7 PM. We are still looking for chili cook-off participants, helpers and donations. Heartland Crossing Chili Cook-Off/ Movie NightOctober 8, 5 PM

Jr. High Journey is a weekend event for Jr. High students where they will experience powerful worship, dynamic preaching and special times designed to grow our group together. Registration fee has dropped to $50. Contact Kevin Tomeo for more information or stop by the Student Ministry area.

Indiana Christian Men’s FellowshipNovember 5, 10 AM @ Hazelwood CC

This will be an evening of worship for all ages! There will be scripture reading, communion, and other elements as we sit at the feet of Jesus and worship. Plan to join us and take part in an evening fully focused on Jesus. We hope to see you there!
