Inclement Weather
With the temperature becoming colder in the evening, and the sudden changes of weather we experience at this time of year, we would
like to remind you of our winter weather procedures:
• When conditions reach -20 Celsius or colder including the wind-chill factor, students will be kept inside for recess or lunch
breaks. Students must be prepared to go outside if the temperature does not fall below this temperature with the wind chill.
• All students should be well prepared for conditions caused by low temperatures and high wind chills and should not be left
unattended at bus stops or spend any extended period of time outdoors under any circumstance.
• Parents should form an emergency plan with their children so they have clear instructions about what to do if the bus does not
arrive. Cold weather or heavy snowfalls can result in bus schedules being unavoidably delayed. Buses will run as close to
schedule as possible but delays do occur and should be expected.
• If parents /guardians cannot ensure the safety of their children to and from school, the child should be kept at home or other
arrangement made for the daily supervision of the child.
Additional information about inclement weather planning can be found on our District under Administrative Procedure 133.

Admin Message
It is incredible that last week we were wearing t-shirts and shorts and this week we have traded them in for toques and snow boots!
The students of St. Isabella School showed tremendous spirit and enthusiasm for the various commemorations and school challenges
we put before them. On Monday, students showed their solidarity by wearing orange shirts, a sign of our collective acknowledgement
of the hurtful legacy of the residential school system for the indigenous people of Canada. Each day, students from various classes
have shared stories and insights on the consequences of residential schools on the morning announcements and have imparted
messages of hope and reconciliation on our community.
This week also marked International Walk or Bike to School week. This is the first time St. Isabella School has acknowledged this
world-wide event and challenged our students to consider an active way to get to and from school. We ran a contest and awarded
prizes every day, and it was extremely gratifying to see how the number of participants grew as awareness for this event spread around
the school. Many thanks to the Copperfield-Mahogany Community Association for their support of this event in the form of several
donated gift cards which were used as prizes.
The holidays can sometimes be a time of tremendous need for some members of our community, and an occasion that is supposed to
be about bringing family together and celebrating, becomes a reminder of the many things that are missing in our lives. We are
hoping the entire school community will join us in rallying around these members of our community as we have partnered with St.
Albert the Great and the St. Vincent DePaul Society to collect food for the needy. In this week’s BWAG, you will find a list of food
items that each homeroom has been requested to gather. School Spirit is always present at St. Isabella School, so we have branded
this event as Turkey by the Tally and will be awarding a class party in each division who brings in the most food items.
Well, this weekend looks to be more agreeable than the previous one, so we hope that everyone is able to enjoy the sunshine.
