The Parish of St. John the Evangelist warmly greets all participants of this celebration. However, please be reminded of the warning of the Bible: In order not to consume undeservingly the bread of the Eucharist, which is the Body of Christ “let each man examine himself” (1 Cor. 11-28). Therefore, only those who are members of the Catholic Church, and those who know themselves to be free of mortal (grave) sins, may take Holy Communion.

THE MARIAN ICON The Marian Icon for Persecuted Christians around the World is on display this weekend, Saturday October 5th — Sunday October 6th in the narthex of our parish. The 2019-2020 Marian Prayer Program, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, presents the 18th Marian image of Our Lady of Help for Persecuted Christians. This year, the prayer service is intended to raise awareness of the plight of Christians persecuted for their faith and to stand in prayerful solidarity with them. Since its inception in 1979, the Knights of Columbus’ Marian Prayer Program has held more than 166,900 local council and parish prayer services with some 20 million participants. There will be adequate quantity of prayer cards #10740 and prayer booklets #5050, traveling with the Marian Icon. THIRD ANNUAL PUBLIC FATIMA ROSARY The 3rd Annual “America Needs Fatima” Public Rosary for the Paducah area will take place next Saturday, October 12th from noon – 1:00pm at Dolly McNutt Plaza (behind the McCracken County Public Library.) Please join us as we pray for our country and continue the message of Fatima for today. YOUTH
ATTENTION ALL YOUTH The National Catholic Youth Conference will take place November 21-23, 2019 with our diocesan delegation leaving on Wednesday, November 20th. This year the conference will be held in Indianapolis, IN with the theme “Blessed, Broken, Given”. This will be an exciting time for our youth and those involved in youth ministry to gather in celebration of faith with others from all over the country. Come out enjoy shopping with us !!! 47th ANNUAL MARCH FOR LIFE The Diocese of Owensboro is in the planning stages of offering an adult and family oriented trip to the 47th annual March for life in Washington DC on Jan-uary 24, 2020 to be the voices for the voiceless unborn and advocate for the sanc-tity of human life. You are invited to be part of this trip. Departure from Owens-boro on 1-22-20 at 8:00 pm, spend two days in Washington DC at the Hotel where the convention is to be held. While there we will attend the vigil Mass for Life at the National Basilica the night before the March, attend the March on 1-24-20, and depart for home on 1-25-20. The estimated cost per person: $325. A $50 deposit to register is required for the trip on or before October 25, 2019. More information contact Richard Murphy at the Diocese at 270.683.1545.
