- Our Mission -
We, the Catholic Community of Our Lady Queen of Peace,
under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, are called to live and
proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We Praise God while
sharing His Joy and Truth through Word, Worship,
Community Service, and Stewardship.
We share our gifts of Time, Talent, and Treasure in a tapestry of
diverse cultures as we gather together
to celebrate our Roman Catholic Faith.
Serving our Lord God through the Liturgy and Eucharist, our
ministries welcome all into our parish Family.

Dear Our Lady Queen of Peace Brothers and Sisters,
It is with great joy that we publish our first bulletin in complete color which comes at no additional cost to our parish.
We hope this full color bulletin helps enhance our ability to communicate the latest events happening at our Church.
I also want to mention that this past week, there was a meeting of our parish catechists. Below is a photo of our virtual
gathering. I want to thank, Justine Garcia, our Pastoral Associate for Religious Education, and all the Catechists, the
parents and the 145 children/youth of our Religious Education Program for adjusting so well to the new online method
of learning. Please continue to pray for all involved in the catechism of our children and their continued success so that
all may continue to grow in faith, hope and charity.
The Daughters of Mary also had their monthly
meeting this past Sunday outside the Parish Center.
It’s inspiring to see our young come together to
pray and learn about our Blessed Mother. Thank
you to Diane Spagnuolo and Maria Duena for
putting the meeting together.
Also, I encourage all to join us in the praying of the
Holy Rosary every Monday evening 7 pm at the
Church and livestreamed in our Facebook Page. I
am grateful that we have a wonderful and growing
number of participants both physically and
virtually. I am confident this devotion to Our Lady
will continue to grow as we continually ask for her
intercession for peace and protection from sickness.
Finally, I would like to make an appeal for more generous donations to our Church. As you may have noticed from our
weekly stewardship reports, collections are dramatically lower due to the lack of public masses for many months, lower
mass attendance than normal, increased unemployment due to the lockdowns and many other factors. Even with
public masses available since June, weekly collections are down by 30% compared to last year. In summary, we are
expecting a $100,000 budget shortfall even after budget adjustments for the new fiscal year. If you are able, please pray
and consider giving more so that we can pay for our parish expenses and assessments. Please also rest assured that we
are doing everything possible to lower our expenses due to the shortfall in collections. Thank you for considering my
request and may God bless you for your generosity in supporting our parish during these very challenging times.
Sincerely in the Lord,
Father Tony

October 25, 2020 ‐ Today’s Readings
LIVING JUSTLY
“You give that back right now!” How many of us
have heard that line, probably more than once, as we
were growing up? We come home with the trophy of
what we thought was a really sweet deal, only to have
our parents undo our profits by making us return the
spoils. They had a different idea of what constituted a
“fair trade agreement.” Justice in our dealings with others
continues to be an important measure of our character,
and like a good parent, God cares very much about how
we treat each other and about how others treat us. God
hears the cry of the poor, and answers the call of the
oppressed. God’s beloved children are not to behave like
bullies.
First Reading — You shall not
oppress an alien, for you
yourselves were once aliens in
Egypt (Exodus 22:20‐26).
Psalm — I love you, Lord, my
strength (Psalm 18).
Second Reading — You became imitators of the Lord, so
that you became a model for all believers
(1 Thessalonians 1:5c‐10).
Gospel — You shall love the Lord, your God, with all
your heart, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself
(Matthew 22:34‐40).

SAINTS SIMON AND JUDE, APOSTLES
October 28
Saint Jude, apostle and . . . Hollywood success story?
Indeed! Beyond Simon’s being a “ Zealot” for Israel’s
liberation and Jude’s question about Jesus revealing
himself (John 14:22), no historic facts are known about
either saint. But Saint Jude’s well‐known patronage of
lost causes and hopeless cases is largely due to a
desperate vow made just before World War II by a
struggling entertainer, the son of Arab‐American
immigrants, Danny Thomas. Unemployed, his wife about
to give birth, Danny, attending Mass, impulsively
donated his last seven dollars to the collection,
promising: “Saint Jude, if you help me find my way in
life, I will build a shrine in your honor!” Older Americans
remember well Danny’s long, successful movie and
television career. Grateful parents worldwide know the
miracles that have taken place for fifty years at his Saint
Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where needy children
are cared for regardless of race, religion, or financial
resources, and monumental advances continue in healing
and preventing pediatric cancers and catastrophic
childhood diseases. A living, life‐giving partnership is

Anima Christi (Soul of Christ)
SOUL of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy Wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me,
And bid me come to Thee.
That with Thy saints, I may praise Thee.
Forever and ever. Amen.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, may the whole world burn
with love for Thee! (x3)

Bereavement Support|[email protected]
It is said that death ends our life on earth, but it does
not end a relationship. There is great truth in this
statement. However, the loss of a loved one can bring
great pain. If you need bereavement counseling,
please contact Deacon Joe at 201‐845‐9566, Ext. 119.
Stewardship ‐ Living as a Steward
Redemption and Stewardship: Everyone has some natural
responsibility for a portion of the world and an obliga‐
tion in caring for it to acknowledge Godʹs dominion. But
there are also those who might be called stewards by
grace. Baptism makes Christians stewards of this kind,
able to act explicitly on Godʹs behalf in cultivating and
serving the portion of the world entrusted to their care.
We find the perfect model of such stewardship in the
Lord. ʺFor in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell,
and through him to reconcile all things for him, making
peace by the blood of the crossʺ (Col I: 19‐20); and finally
it will be he who ʺhands over the kingdom to his God
and Fatherʺ (1 Col 15:24). (To be continued next week)
Treasures from Our Tradition
There is a show on public television in which people
search their attics for heirlooms, dust them off, and trek
them downtown for ruthless evaluation by teams of an‐
tique experts. Occasionally the owners are surprised to
learn they have been harboring priceless artifacts: a Tiffa‐
ny bowl used to catch the car keys, a Van Gogh in the
downstairs bathroom. What they lugged downtown in a
paper bag, they carry home in bubble wrap and receiving
blankets.
It’s the same way with treasures in Church life. Lots
of things were lugged up into the attic years ago, and it
was inevitable that some treasures ended up in the trash.
Many Catholics tucked the sacrament of penance away in
a dusty corner. We know it’s there if we need it, but it is
not the weekly routine it once was, like the Saturday bath
“whether I need it or not.” Today, especially in Lent and
Advent or as part of personal preparation for marriage,
ordination, or other life transitions, the sacrament of pen‐
ance is a treasure of the Christian life waiting to be dis‐
covered. What’s in your attic? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co
