Pond: Our pond contractors are currently working on the rock placement and water proofing liner inside the smaller portion of land under the brown bridge. We should start seeing water being filled in within the next week.

Clubhouse: The Sierra Clubhouse application has been approved for hazardous waste removal and a demo crew is being scheduled. We are excited to see this project start.

Siding: The shingles along the side of the buildings in East are in quick progress. We understand the noise of construction can be an annoyance but is well worth the beauty and restoration it brings. Once the shingles are completed the buildings will receive a fresh coat of paint.

Carports: The carports last few finishing touches are being installed withe metal trim. They will be painted brown. The Board will vote on adding wood trim to make them blend in with the other carports on the property. Lighting will be reinstalled to the carports next week.

Fence/Walls: The Stucco wall at building 891 is nearly complete. A fresh coat of paint will restore the wall to its original glory.

Reminder: Please remember as you enjoy your walk along the paths of Woodside, that although there are multiple projects in the works. Your Woodside staff continues to diligently labor for the restoration and beautification of your homes and shared amenities. Please use caution around construction projects and work equipment while you walk the property.

Roofs: Buildings 609, 611 and 613, 615 are scheduled to have foam insulation applied to resist water from leaking in the homes.

Party Department With Halloween soon at hand we are excited to celebrate with our Woodside community. Invitations have been delivered property wide for our yearly Halloween Party on Saturday, October 26th from 7pm to 9pm in the Old Woodside Clubhouse. We want to thank our two hosts Steve and Sonya for putting this party together for our community. There will be delicious treats and a fun costume contest to enjoy. Please RSVP at [email protected] or sign up in the Woodside Main Office.

Make this holiday season a fun and safe environment for all of your friends and neighbors.

Becoming more familiar with your neighbors can help in big and small ways. Knowing who your neighbors are takes away the guess work of who is and isn't allowed on property. Strengthening our sense of community can help us solve property issues together as team.

So, when you see a new face, be friendly and ask them "how they are" and "if they have recently moved in?" Being courteous and respectful costs nothing and brings people together. Who knows, maybe you'll be invited to their next summer party. Just be sure all fun activities are a "green light" with in the Rules and Regulations ; )

Unfortunately, there are individuals in the Sacramento area that would attempt mischief and commit crimes against our community and neighbors. But when we support one another we are a stronger community more prepared to take on the unruly behavior. It is best to be thoughtful of your surroundings, especially during the evening hours.

Talking to someone on the phone while walking in dark areas and carrying a flashlight are some easy ways to be mindful and cautious. We are thankful to one of our community members, that through their recent difficult, has decided to share the address and information of their vehicle repair mechanic.

Who specializes in taking precautionary measures to deter theft of catalytic converters. The mechanic welds a piece of re-bar that produces large amounts of sparks when attempting to cut the metal. Making for a much more visible display than without.

Contact Midas Muffler at 916-877-7661 located at 2260 Arden way, Sacramento, CA 95825. Open Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 6pm Saturday & Sunday from 8am to 4pm

WOODSIDE HOA hopes our security systems provide some deterrence to crime. However, the community can never be crime-free. For example, it is possible for someone to enter the property under false pretenses to commit crimes, for residents to commit crimes against their own neighbors, for guests of residents to commit crimes, and for employees to commit crimes. As a result, the association cannot guarantee your security. You should NOT rely on the association to protect you from loss or harm. You should provide for your own security by keeping your doors locked; refusing to open your door to strangers; asking workers for identification; installing a security system; carrying insurance; and emergency preparedness.

While San Francisco architect Donald Sandy was designing Woodside structures, a young landscape designer came to Sacramento to bring finesse to the natural slopes and curves. Landscape architects design parks, campuses, streetscapes, trails, and plazas to help define a community. The young designer, like architect Donald Sandy, worked around existing trees. Together the two men laid out every foot of space: structures, parking lots, and open areas angled and pitched artfully in relation to each other. In the late 1960’s, when Woodside opened in Sacramento, headlines trumpeted a prestigious luxury property. The enduring visual elements: trees, large grassy zones, and sophisticated design recurring subtly in every structure. Floodlights shined on prominent Sacramento developer Robert Powell, known as a visionary in upscale communities. But decades later, we are coming to learn the Bay Area touch that made Woodside a delicacy, a sophistication unknown to Sacramento at the time in multi-family developments. One source of this new style was architect Don Sandy, FAIA, addressed in last month’s newsletter. The other was Anthony Guzzardo. A native San Franciscan with a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Illinois, Guzzardo came with cutting-edge concepts acquired in the program in Landscape Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. In the years since developing Woodside, Guzzardo’s firm has worked on many projects, including Half Moon Bay Beach House, Ruby Hill Golf Course, Stanford Palo Alto Playfields, Hermosa Beach House, Main Street Marriott, San Carlos Transit Village, The Plaza at Triton, and the Li Ka-Shing Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences. Other credits include Avaya Stadium, Main Street Cupertino, and the TransAmerica Redwood Park in San Francisco. Guzzardo’s firm ascribes to the value of high quality design in affordable housing. The Farm, a development in Soquel, represents community goals for an 11-acre former farmstead developed into single family homes and a number of affordable rental apartments, a park, and a child care center. The firm has won many awards. Guzzardo himself has served as president of the American Society of Landscape Architects and has received the highest distinction in the world of land design. The next time you walk the grounds of Woodside, remember that we were designed by the best talent in the West, and maybe the nation.
