Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord!

35 Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. 36 Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. John 4:35–36 (ESV)

I was thinking about how valuable all the women and young ladies are in our congregation and it reminded me that there is a WMF Ladies Night Out scheduled for next month. The theme this Fall is “Harvesting Souls” and it comes from John 4:35-36. Jesus looks at the fields and sees that they are ready to be harvested. And he makes the point that both the ones who sow the seeds (the gospel) and also those who reap the harvest (the one being saved) rejoice. Many of us have been Christians all our lives. But there are also many of us who received Christ later in life. Both of these groups were brought to Christ, and both of these groups are saved (gathered fruit for eternal life) through Christ. I was reading an article the other day and the author said this: “I love God because he first loved me.” Wow! That is beau-tiful! Well the same could be said for harvesting souls. We sow and harvest souls by the grace of God because someone first harvested us. We seek to save the lost because we too were saved and live in the graces of God through faith. So just like the Scripture says, “so that sower and reaper may rejoice together.” Ladies Night Out is Wednesday, October 16th at 6:30pm. The ladies have chosen an awesome theme for next month. I wish the men could go to the event as well. But men, let’s support our loved ones by helping them attend this great evening. God loves you, he sent someone to sow the gospel in your life and at the correct time God harvested you unto salvation through his Son and by his Holy Spirit.

God loves you. I love you. And it’s an honor to be your pastor. God bless you all. Pastor Aaron Olson

I tell you, look up and see that the

fields are already white for har-

vest! The one who reaps receives

pay and gathers fruit for eternal life,

so that the one who sows and the one

who reaps can rejoice together.

~John 4:35-36

Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together.

The Brookings Coat Ministry is collecting coats and winter gear for ALL ages. If you are willing and able to donate to this minis-try, please place all donations on the ta-ble in the back of the sanctuary.

Thank you!

There are a few changes this year. 1. No tooth paste will be accepted 2. No candy will be accepted (both changes due to expiration dates and issues at customs) 3. There will be a $9.00 shipping fee. Many thanks and God bless you for being a part of this ministry.

ARLINGTON FOOD PANTRY

The Arlington Food Pantry is in need of several items for their shelves. Also, if you would be willing and able to be on the schedule to help volunteer at the Arlington Food Pantry the second Tuesday of the month from 2:30-4:30, please talk to Heidi. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to give their time and energy to a wonder-ful organization!

Beverly Lewis, in “The Proving,” has written an interesting story about Amanda Dienner whose mother has passed away and left her Lancaster County’s most popu-lar Amish bed-and-breakfast. If Amanda can run it successfully for twelve months, it will truly be hers. She accepts the challenge reluctantly wondering if she has made a dreadful mistake. This one is a novel.

Another book about the Amish is “Plain Wisdom,” by Cindy Woodsmall. Two women, with nine children and almost sixty years of marriage between them, find guidance through financial setbacks, new babies , losses of family and friends etc., by looking to God. There are family recipes throughout the book.

Autism stole his words, but God gave him a voice. In “Josiah’s Fire,“ Tahni Cullen tells that her son, when just a toddler, lost his ability to speak, play, and socialize. The diagnosis was Autism and the Cul-lens went through overwhelming physical, emotional, and financial struggles. Five years later Josiah who had not been formally taught to read or write, suddenly began to type on his iPad profound words about God, science, history, business, music, strangers, and heaven. This is a fascinating book. Church sign: A compliment withheld is a criticism. Charles Jones: You will be the same person in five years that you are today except for two things: the people you meet and the books you read. A coincidence is a gift of God. W.M Kinnaird: Life is a gift, and our attitude is to be grateful and thankful for what we have, not bitter and demanding over what we don’t. Message on an offering envelope: A life is either a blessing or a curse. Life that is joined to the cross, that lives under God’s forgiveness, and that reflects God’s love to others is a blessed life. Life that is in-tent on disobedience, that lives only for self, and that reflects only greed and noncaring is a curse. God gives us the opportunity to respond to his love with love in our lives. Kind words, gracious acts, and self-less giving makes us blessings to others. Scott MacIntyre, a blind piano prodigy, a 19 year old grad, and American Idol finalist, had it made And then he faced a diagnosis that rocked his family and nearly took his life. He’d be the first to tell you that this is the story of how God used a dedicated family, a selfless acquaintance, hardship, and a host of characters to give him, life, faith, determination, and experiences most can only imagine. Read about how he overcame his disability, how he made it in the music industry, how he found the love of his life, and how God taught him that in all things, we can truly achieve our dreams “By Faith, Not by Sight.” Joni Eareckson Tada has written “a lifetime of wisdom” which is not about what she lost in a diving accident when she was seventeen but about the wisdom the Lord has given her to live life victoriously in the face of disappointments and challenges that we all face. Forty years later, she shares what she learned at the feet of Jesus, even when she raged at Him in anger, fear and despair. Joni is the founder of Joni and Friends, an organization accelerating Christian outreach in the disability community that num-bers 610 million people worldwide. She is also an artist and the author of numerous other books. “Love Casts Out,” by Brother Nathan, is a Jihad survivor’s journey from revenge to redemption. As a boy in Egypt, Brother Nathan witnessed an unthinkable attack on his father, a Christian pastor in a major-ity-Muslim country. After the attack he sought revenge and vowed to avenge his father. He tells a grip-ping story of danger, overwhelming anger, and forgiveness that’s beyond comprehension. Through Na-than’s experiences in Egypt, his beloved homeland, you will see firsthand the joys and difficulties Chris-tians face in the persecuted church in the Middle East. And you’ll marvel at God’s ability to care for those who follow his call and to change hearts in one of the most dangerous places in the world to claim Christ as Lord. Brother Nathan is a Christian leader currently working in Egypt, where Christians are a small mi-nority and face difficult and challenging situations on a daily basis. He graduated from university as a veterinary surgeon, but followed the call of God he felt on his life by leaving his job in 1986 to study at New Life Bible School in New Zealand. Upon completion of his studies, he returned to Egypt to begin his ministry. God’s Blessings. Ferne Liebsch 10-19
