Streetsville Blooms Streetsville Horticultural Society Proud to be a member of the Ontario Horticultural Association Volume 26, Issue 2 www.streetsvillehort.ca October 2018 NEXT MEETING: October 9, 2018 Streetsville United Church Open House 274 Queen Street South Doors open 7 p.m. Meeting starts 7:30 p.m. The Vice-President’s Message October! One of my favourite months! Gardening without the intense heat, enjoying this year’s big successes, and noting what didn’t do well while putting things to bed for the winter. What a great way to spend a day! And I confess, I’m looking forward to a little rest from all the work, and time to sit back and plan new ideas to try next year. I heard a weather forecast for a slow slide into winter this year, so hopefully, that means lots of time yet to enjoy our autumn gardens. The October meeting is also our fall Open House. Bring a friend to the meeting and introduce them to our community of gardening enthusiasts. There are still some exotic bulbs that were available at the last meeting for sale. And, if you haven’t renewed your membership yet, please see Vivianne when you sign in on Tuesday. The October meeting is also our last meeting of this fiscal year; November will be the Annual General Meeting. At the AGM, we elect our Board of Directors to oversee running the activities for the Society over the coming year. If you are interested in perhaps joining the BOD, or just curious, please talk to me or any one of the existing members at any meeting. Being a Board member requires a commitment to attend our monthly meetings, the first Tuesday of the month, and provide input Index Vice-President’s Message …1 Speaker’s Corner …2 Refreshment Table …2 Membership Desk …3 From the Raffle Table …3 Flower Show Results …4 Leslie Log House …5 Photography Contest …6 Aroung the City …7 Bulb Sale …7 Flower Show Schedule …8 7 Fall Gardening Jobs …9
