Update
Hello and welcome to October’s USIR update.
Open Research Network
This year’s Open Access Week is now over, which will come as a great relief to those people who follow the
@OpenResSalford Twitter account. We enjoyed two fascinating talks by Dr Erinma Ochu (pictured above)
and Dr Caroline Magennis. If you came along to either of the events, we hope you had a nice time and that
you learnt something about open research.
As part of Open Access Week we also very softly launched our new Open Researchers Network (this is very
much a working title – let me know if you can think of something better). This will initially be a mailing list that
we use to keep people up-to-date with developments in open research and scholarly communications, but
we’re hoping it will grow into something more substantial.
The first ten people to sign up online get an Open Research goodie bag so do consider joining and please
encourage your colleagues/PGR students to get involved too. There’s more info available on the Open
Access Week web page, as well as a link to a quick sign up form.
Many thanks,
Steve Carlton
On behalf of the Research Support Team (The Library)
