This Club exists to provide water related recreational opportunities for its members. We are dedicated to encouraging the safe and skilled operation of vessels owned by the members. The Club is a not for profit organization operated for the benefit of the members.

I’m sure you’ve all heard the phrase “it takes a village…..” Well it does, and I’m pleased to say we have the best “village” of volunteers imaginable. Last weekend’s Lost Bay Regatta was successful on so many levels. Thanks go out to those of you who spent the day mowing, weed eating, cleaning and preparing the clubhouse for the big event, as well as those who helped feed sailors, set up and breakdown tables, and peddle merchandise. Congratulations to both Robert Clark and Hank Jordan for a well thought out and well attended event and race. Attendance was outstanding with 40 boats participating in the regatta and over 200 folks at the dinner and awards ceremony. I’ve always been proud to represent this club but never more so than I was this past weekend! Here’s to next year celebrating 30 years of the Lost Bay Regatta.

There are just a couple of events left in the year. Don’t forget to participate in the Lillian Bridge Race and Halloween Party on 10/29, and then on December 2, let’s gather to toast in the holidays!

Until next time, Fair Winds, see you on the water!

Fleet Captain’s Report – Hank Jordan

29thAnnualLostBayRegatta–40 boats participated in the Lost Bay Regatta this year on Oct. 1. The winners are listed below. Congratulations to PtYC members Denny Blume and John Horner for finishing 2nd in their classes and to Neal Rowell for finishing 3rd. Zane Yoder on FNG Eelsnot from the Mobile Yacht Club won (again) the Paul Schreck Perpetual for First Overall in the Spinnaker Division. Mike Weirszalowski sailing Miss Grace from Fairhope Yacht Club won the Paul Muellar Perpetual trophy for First Overall in the Non-Spinnaker Division. A big thanks to Past Commodore Robert Clark for being our Lost Bay Regatta Chairman again this year! Also thanks to Kenny Menck for providing the Race Committee Boat and to Paul Sykes and Jim Trest for providing the mark boats. Cathy Cromartie, PRO from FYC, did an excellent job running the race as well as Rick Matteis from FYC for scoring it. It takes a lot of volunteers to run a successful sailing event and thanks to everyone who served on the race committee, decorating, ad sales, entertainment, food, merchandise, parking, etc.. Our next and final club race this year will be the Lillian Bridge Race on October 29 (see NOR). It's the best time of year for a sail up the bay, so sailors plan to participate.
