ADVISORSPOTLIGHT
Q: Location
A: Virginia Beach, VA
Q: One word that describes how you work
A: Organized Chaos with a dash of Excitement
Q: Why did you decide to join the RIA industry?
A: I stumbled into it really, out of college I was working with Spectrum and developing marketing
materials. I grew to love the RIA industry when I moved into our Client Services department and
started to develop relationships with our clients. Not to sound cheesy, but when you begin to see the
good your company does for your clients and the good in your clients, you begin to love what you
do. Now I head our Business Development team and get to meet with clients and other advisors and
learn what we can do even better to help them. I decided to stay in the RIA industry because of the
final output- allowing your clients to reach their dreams through their investments.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with your clients?
A: I think getting to know them and forming relationships with them. At the end of the day we are in the
people business and I enjoy people.
Q: What is your favorite app? A: A winning combination of Waze, Snapchat,
Instagram, Bloomberg and MyFitnessPal
Q: Tell us about some of your favorite books, or what you are currently reading?
A: All of the Harry Potters books- I re-read them all the time #teamgryffindor . The Mission, the Men,
and Me by Pete Blaber- an amazing book for business. The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown,
The Content Code by Mark Schaefer, The Best Places To Work by Ron Friedman , The Black Swan by
Nassim Nicholas Taleb...
Q: What do you do to unwind when not working (in other words, what are some of your hobbies)?
A: Nature unwinds me, whether that is being in it or observing it- so I am trying to expose myself to that
more and more. I tend to become consumed with work, but my husband helps pull me out of that and
reminds me to actually take a break and enjoy life on a day-to-day basis.
Q: What is one thing you can’t do without at work?
A: My MacBook Air
(continued on next page)
7
Q: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
A: A combination of: You win more flies with honey, than with vinegar; listen more than you speak; never stop learning; and, never stop building relationships.
Q: What is your favorite type of music?
A: I love all music, but I will admit I am a main stream music listener…
Q: What are the top three essential tools in your workspace?
A: Black/Blue Pilot G2 Pens, Planner, and
my Adobe Creative Suite
(continued on next page)

Q: Where do you see this industry going in the next five years?
A: I think our world, the world of finance, has JUST started to embrace technology and weave it into
our businesses. But I think in five years you will start to see a separation between the firms that
simply added a technology tool and the ones that embraced technology as part of their identity and
value system. So I see the industry learning to use technology better- in how they learn about their
clients and connect with their clients- and even gain new clients. I think because of the regulatory
environment our firms operate in, there is so much fear of using new tools or ways to communicate
especially when technology is involved. The firms that will last and make it the next 20 years won’t use
that as an excuse or crutch for staying in the 18th century. I believe there are new minds and ideas in
this industry that think with less boundaries and more creativity- all while staying ethical and within
regulatory standards.

Orion Advisor Services, LLC (“Orion”), a premier
portfolio accounting service provider for financial
advisors, has entered into reseller agreements with
the industry’s top financial technology firms.
Through Orion Connect, advisors now get the
benefit of a bundled, simplified purchasing process
for select integration partners. These partners
include Junxure, AdvisoryWorld, Morningstar
(Morningstar® ByAllAccountsSM and Morningstar®
Total Rebalance Expert), MoneyGuidePro®,
Orchestrate, LLC, WealthSite Inc. Private Asset
Platform, Quovo, Wealth Access, and Riskalyze.
“While streamlined data sharing is a huge
component of our open architecture platform,
advisors also deserve a client service model that
integrates just as seamlessly as their data feeds,”
said Eric Clarke, CEO of Orion. “We feel that by
offering advisors a more streamlined purchasing
and contracting process, we’re making it more
accessible for them to explore and take advantage
of the technology options that are right for them.”
Riskalyze, the company that empowers thousands
of advisors to align each client’s investments with
their Risk Number®, is one of the select integration
partners available for purchase through Orion.
“Integration absolutely cannot be limited to
the technology functionalities of two or more
platforms,” said Aaron Klein, CEO of Riskalyze.
“As proven by this year’s Fuse conference, Orion
understands this instinctively, and for that we are
excited to be a part of this newest agreement.”
As part of Orion’s ongoing initiative to provide
advisors with innovative technology tools that
help them to better serve their clients, Orion
hosted its third consecutive Fuse conference in
Park City, Utah in early September. Fuse is the
wealth management industry’s only conference
dedicated specifically to financial advisor
technology developers, gathering the industry’s
top innovators and Orion’s integration partners for
a marathon coding event aimed at developing new
products and features to integrate within Orion’s
open architecture platform. For updates on the
hackathon winners and integrations developed at
Fuse, click here [orionadvisor.com/blog].
