Hello fellow Rebels
The weather is changing and so is the season.
The leaves are changing colors and signs of fall
are popping up all over. The crisp morning air
turns into great afternoon weather and makes
the days great. Fall is a great time of year as
far as the color changes.
We are going into the time of year where things
with friends and family get busy. The holiday
season. Times when we all enjoy the friend-
ships and family gatherings. The cars get put
on the back burner and we get ready to put
them away for the season. Holiday programs
and themed parties start to pop up all the time.
Fall is my favorite time of the year.
Speaking of parties, our October party is get
planned and scheduled. It will be Oct. 25th at
the Masters residence in the shop. We will
start it at 6:30 so get there and enjoy the fel-
lowship of other members. It is just a party
and not a Halloween party, but costumes are
always optional. It will be a good time as al-
ways and again please bring a covered dish or
desert and your own beverage.
The car activities and starting to get done and
holidays are approaching. Please take a mo-
ment to think of others and those who are serv-
ing for our nation that protects out rights and
freedoms. Stay safe and watch out for others
on and off the road.
See you on the streets
Dave

THIS MONTH WE HIGHLIGHT OUR REBELS MEMBERS
Past President, Cary Petersen
by Jim Jensen

At Large Board Member
I purchased my 1946 Plymouth, 4 door, Special Deluxe Street Rod in 2007 from a private individual in Mis-
souri. I had seen the car for sale at Americruise show at the State Fair Grounds in Lincoln. That was in 2006.
It had a stock 305 Chevrolet engine and a 200R automatic w/overdrive. Underneath was a 1970 Nova cha-
sis and rear end, power drum brakes all the way around, and Cooper skins with American Racing wheels. The
interior was a two tone gray with gray carpet, AM/FM/CD, digital dash, custom steering wheel, AC, PS, and a
tilt steering column. Shortly afterwards, I joined the Rebels, which came highly recommended by Lydell
“Oates” Otley.
As most rodders know, the car is never finished. One of the first things needed was the rear end
straightened, the drive shaft shortened by 1”, and a complete alignment. What a difference that made. It was
like driving a new car. Because of the poor alignment, the front tires needed replaced. I continued to make
improvements over the years by reworking the cooling system, adding bucket seats and seat belts, and a little
nicer stereo and speakers. Most of you know I had tail light issues. One time, I bought LED tail lights at the
Good Guys Show and proceeded to install them there with a little help from my friends.
This car was always a good comfortable ride and my wife and I enjoyed cruisin' the streets of Lincoln
with the family and grandson. I also enjoyed taking it to car shows in Des Moines, Hutchinson, West Point,
Omaha and too many others to mention. It handled so good, I drove the SCCA cone course one year at the
airport, twice! Later on, Dean Rabel and I upgraded to new disc brakes on the front. It was a learning experi-
ence every time I worked on it.
Jim McNeil will tell you
all the trouble we went through to
try to put a newer hemi and
tranny in it, which included buy-
ing a wrecked police car. I still
think it would have been cool to
do it, but I made the decision to
leave well enough alone.
I sold the car in 2013 to a
guy in Iowa. We hated to see it
go, but he made me an offer I
couldn't refuse. I decided to go
the newer route for a while. My
current ride is a 2012 Challenger
RT. I finally got the Hemi I
wanted. ~Cary Petersen

Members of the Rebels Car Club:
I would like to thank you for your donation to
help me purchase a drill rifle to perform my
routine. I was very surprised when Mr.Foster
approached me at the Bellwood car show and
asked me about my rifle, after it broke in half!
I have received my new rifle, it is a
white and chrome 1903 A3 Springfield and it
is much better than my old rifle. I am includ-
ing a picture. It's a little heavier but I will ad-
just with practice. My family and I were ex-
tremely honored to be invited to your club
meeting and I will be happy to do a perform-
ance at your car show next year or any other
event you would like me to. We will remain in
touch.
Sincerely, Andrew M. Buckmaster
