Please Save : Empty Prescription Pill Containers We have an overabundance of empty pill containers. Peggy Cook has asked that we hold off until January. At that time, she will let us know when to start collecting them again. We are also collecting boxtops for education, aluminum tabs and used postage stamps. Please leave 1/4" around stamps. Give stamps to Marion Wolf. Redners Save a Tape We are no longer collecting Redners receipts. We are too far away from the minimum amount we would need to profit from this fundraiser. The Lord's Pantry A bin for food donations for the Lord's Pantry is at the senior center.

How to Survive a Heart Attack When Alone

While alone, and you star experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw and you don’t know if you have time to call or drive for assistance, and then your heart stops beating properly and you begin to feel faint, you have only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing move-ments squeeze the heart and keep blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a phone and, between breaths, call for help. Please pass this on to as many people as possible. It could save their lives! This was taken from the internet by a member. Your symptoms may not be as severe as described. While this knowledge may help to save the life of one or more people, it is imperative that you

Call 911 first!!!

There’s Still Time to Apply for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program

By Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks County)

Pennsylvania's Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program application deadline has been extended from June 30 to Dec. 31. The program provides property tax and rent relief for eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and peo-ple with permanent disabilities age 18 and older. The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters. Fifty percent of Social Security income is ex-cluded when determining eligibility. The maximum standard rebate is $650. For more information or an application, contact my office at 1032 N. Easton Road in Doylestown, telephone 215-489-2126, or visit the Department of Revenue’s website. After July 1, claimants who already applied for rebates may check the status of claims online or by calling, toll-free 1-888-PATAXES.

Don’t Miss Out on Tax Relief!

By Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-Bucks County)

The Taxpayer Relief Act was signed into law by Governor Rendell on June 27, 2006. The law provides for property tax reduction allocations to be distributed by the Commonwealth to each school district, and the state funds must then be used to reduce local residential school property tax bills. Property tax reduction will be through a “homestead or farmstead exclusion.” Under a homestead or farmstead property tax exclusion, the assessed value of each homestead or farm-stead is reduced by the amount of the exclusion before the property tax is computed. To receive school property tax relief for the tax year beginning July 1, 2015 the form must be filed by March 1, 2015. Your school district is required to notify you by December 31st of each year if your property is not approved for the homestead or farmstead exclusion or if your approval is due to expire. If you purchase a new house, make a change to your deed, amend your property lines or amend names on your deed for a variety of reasons, your original Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion is voided. Therefore, you must resubmit an application to the Bucks County Board of Assessment to be included in a future distribution of gambling revenue. If you have not already, you can download a form from the Bucks County Board of Assessments at www.buckscountyboa.org or you can contact my office at 215-489-2126 and we will be happy to send one to you directly.

Some of life’s little instructions: Understand that happiness is not based on possessions, power,

or prestige, but on relationships with people you love and respect.

Remember no one makes it alone. Have a grateful heart and be quick to acknowledge those who help you.

Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures.

Learn to recognize the inconsequential, then ignore it.

Give people the benefit of the doubt.
