STAT MedEvac, a service of the Center for Emergency Medicine of WesternPennsylvania, Inc., is a 24 hour, 7 day per week medical helicopter operationbased at the York Airport. They have a fleet of 17 MedEvac helicopters based instrategic locations throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and the District ofColumbia to provide the fastest possible response times to emergencies. Thecompany is headquartered at the Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin, PA.The York, PA base was established in 2003 at York Airport. STAT MedEvac's primary mission is to provide immediate advanced care and totransport ill and critically injured patients to regional medical centers. The helicopter based at York-- STAT MedEvac 13-- is a twin engine EurocopterEC-135. It is equipped with the latest avionics including weather radar, GroundProximity Warning System (GPWS) and Traffic Collision Avoidance System(TCAS). The crew consists of one Pilot, Flight Nurse and Flight Paramedic, eachoutfitted with Night Vision Goggles (NVG's). The fleet also includes the larger,twin engine EC-145. StatCom, the communications hub for STAT MedEvac, receives over 22,000requests for medical service each year. STAT MedEvac at one point operated a Bell 430 (N430Q) that set an around-the-world speed record in 1996. Visit www.statmedevac.com for more information.

The National Apple Harvest Festival, at the South Mountain Fairgrounds inArdentsville, PA, is held annually during the first two weekends in October.
