IMA NEWSLETTER President’s Message Welcome back Aggies, and welcome to all the new students at Utah State! My name is Chelsea Hepworth, and I am a senior in the accounting program. I am excited about this school year and excited to be the IMA President. As an IMA officer, I am often asked why someone should be involved in this club. There are lots of reasons! As a student currently going through the recruiting process, I can tell you that involvement is huge. Employers like to hire people who do more than just go to school, and joining a club like IMA is a great way to show that. But more importantly, IMA can really help you get an idea of you want to do with your career. I went to my first IMA meeting my freshman year at USU. The speaker was from Deloitte, and he spoke about what he did in his career to be so successful. This inspired me to look at what I wanted to do so that I could begin preparing for my future career. Now years later, I have attended many IMA meetings, and they all have provided significant insights and advice. As an IMA member, you also have the opportunity to go on a business tour and attend club social events. Last year, we toured Icon Health and Fitness. It was so interesting to learn about this business and how important accounting is to it. We also attended Pizza Pie Café and a USU hockey game as a club. All together, the IMA activities really give you a chance to network with professionals and fellow students, learn more about a career in accounting, and gain information to help you decide what kind of career and life you want to lead. IMA is already in full swing this year, and it is not too late to get involved. We saw many of you at our fall ice cream social as well as at the Accounting Kick-Off. We also had our first technical meeting, where we heard from Dave Haws, Corporate Controller for Conservice. We have some great speakers scheduled for the remainder of the year, as well as many great activities. I hope to see all of you get involved! IMA NEWSLETTER

President’s Message Welcome back Aggies, and welcome to all the new students at Utah

State! My name is Chelsea Hepworth, and I am a senior in the accounting

program. I am excited about this school year and excited to be the IMA President.

As an IMA officer, I am often asked why someone should be involved in this club.

There are lots of reasons! As a student currently going through the recruiting

process, I can tell you that involvement is huge. Employers like to hire people

who do more than just go to school, and joining a club like IMA is a great way to

show that. But more importantly, IMA can really help you get an idea of you want

to do with your career. I went to my first IMA meeting my freshman year at USU.

The speaker was from Deloitte, and he spoke about what he did in his career to be

so successful. This inspired me to look at what I wanted to do so that I could

begin preparing for my future career. Now years later, I have attended many IMA

meetings, and they all have provided significant insights and advice.

As an IMA member, you also have the opportunity to go on a business

tour and attend club social events. Last year, we toured Icon Health and Fitness.

It was so interesting to learn about this business and how important accounting is

to it. We also attended Pizza Pie Café and a USU hockey game as a club. All

together, the IMA activities really give you a chance to network with professionals

and fellow students, learn more about a career in accounting, and gain information

to help you decide what kind of career and life you want to lead.

IMA is already in full swing this year, and it is not too late to get

involved. We saw many of you at our fall ice cream social as well as at the

Accounting Kick-Off. We also had our first technical meeting, where we heard

from Dave Haws, Corporate Controller for Conservice. We have some great

speakers scheduled for the remainder of the year, as well as many great activities.
