COMRADES AND SISTERS
In an organization of so many
lesser groups that make up one
larger group (OUR POST) it is
necessary to establish a team
concept. THE POST COMES
ABOVE ALL and all are part of
the post!
No member may represent the
national VFW OR the POST
without approval of the
commander and his staff.
The POST Calendar is started
each year when the new
Commander takes Office. Any
add on events must be authorized
by the canteen manager and
Commander.
ALL entries in the post
newsletter must be authorized by
the Commander and staff.
This year our theme has been
and remains - TEAM WORK.

Enough said on these subjects.
On the positive side, the picnic
was the best we have had in my
memory. I heard nothing but
positive remarks on the work done
by John, Mike and Colleen’s crew.
ATTA BOY gang! You done good!
In keeping with the team work
theme, the LAUX and Cooties were
invited to share the Post 392
membership drive booth at the air
show. Special thanks to John
Brooks, Mike Gaughan, Steve
Williams, Sherry Hotra, Gunnar
Gudjonsson, Sue Sowers, Mike
Marushia, Joe Cool and Jim
Szewczyk!
We attended the annual FLAME
OF HOPE ceremony on 21
September. The ladies did a great
job. More to follow elsewhere in
the paper.
I want to commend our newsletter
editor Matt Cullen and our web site
“guru”, Mike Marushia for their
many hours in rebuilding the Post
Newsletter. WELL DONE guys,
keep it going!!
Please see this month’s calendar
as there are some important events
going on.

Summer is just about gone so
now that our Post picnic is over we
can now set our sights on Veteran's
Day as the next big holiday for the
Post which means Buddy Poppies.
The Post Picnic was a great
success so I hope we can do just as
great with the volunteers for the
Poppy's as we did the Picnic. The
Poppy's require only your time to
distribute at the Commissary,
Package Store and the Exchange
so please give our Junior Vice
Commander a hand on getting out
and helping out.
Our membership is moving right
along but could be better. Please
check with your friends and
neighbors to see if they qualify to
become a member.
The Oceana Air Show was the
weekend of 9/14 - 9/16 and we had
plenty of volunteer's to cover the
weekend led by the Junior Vice

OUR MONTHLY BREAD
Our Seven Deadly Sins What Are They
Today many groups religious and non-religious continue to predict major cataclysms and the approach of inevitable changes.
How ironically often times these
groups have failed to realized that
change is all about us. As the bible
says there are wars and rumors of
wars and it's broadcast around the
globe in the blink of an eye. By
satellite and it also sends the
message of God, to other countries.
We hear of floods and famine and
hate crimes and a day doesn't pass
when we don't see renewed
evidence of gang wars or drugs or
our inhumanity to one another.
Unfortunately, much of this
information has become so
commonplace that we may simply
shrug our shoulders as to gesture
of who cares, or change the
channel, or just turn the page of
newspaper because you don't want
to read about it. It's just not you're
responsibility until something
happen to you or a family member
or close friend.
In many places, the world has
become more fractured ever
before, as politics, race, sexuality,
culture, and religions divide
county and individual common
sense countless thousands of
individuals been killed, are dying,
or have simply given up. And yet,
in spite of all these things, some
individuals are waiting for the
evidence of time is changing but
they can’t see and remains blind.
It's time for us to wake up and
realize that the changing time is
happening RIGHT NOW. Our
world civilization, and our
individual lives are all undergoing
dramatic personal and collective
change.
Yet, sometimes it's hard for us
recognize because the changes
have not been a single event. They
have been a process for the future
are not really about earthquakes;
and other cataclysms changes
because in the bible God, has
predicted see Revelation.
A close look of the changing
events in our lives and in our
surroundings is to enable us to
remember why we are here.
Simply stated, these changes are
the testing which will enable us to
put God in our lives.

Individual Seven Deadly Sins
In Detail
1. PRIDE: Is excessive belief in
ones' own abilities that
interferes with the individual's
recognition of the grace of
God. It has been called the sin
from which all others are pride
is also known as Vanity.
2. ENVY: Is the desire for other's
traits, status, abilities, or
situation.
3. GLUTTONY: Is an inordinate
desire to consume more than
that one requires.
4. LUST: Is an inordinate carving
for the pleasures of the body
5. ANGER: Is manifested in the
individual who spurns love
and opts instead for fury. It is
also known as Wrath
6. GREED: Is the desire for
material wealth or gain,
ignoring the realm of the
Spiritual. It is also called
Avarice or Covetousness
7. SLOTH: Is the avoidance of
physical or spiritual work
Let's start with most influential
figures (Congress) in modern
times social and political
activism, considered these traits
as part of the seven sins because
ethics, is a base for our moral
conduct to be the most spiritually
perilous to American Citizenry
and humanity.
1. Wealth without Work
2. Pleasure without Conscience
3. Science without Humanity
4. Knowledge without Character
5. Politics without Principle
6. Commerce without Morality
7. Worship without Sacrifice
Please Carefully Read This
Prayer
"Heavenly Father, we come
before you today to ask your
forgiveness and seek your
direction and guidance. We know
Your Word says, "Woe to those
who call evil good', but that's
exactly what we've done.
We have lost our spiritual
equilibrium and inverted out values.
We confess that we have ridiculed
the absolute truth of your Word,
calling it moral pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods
also material things and called it
multiculturalism. We have endorsed
perversion - children sexual
preda to r s , homosex ua l i t y’ s
parading themselves and same sex
marriages openly called it an
“alternative lifestyle.”
We have exploited the poor and
called it lottery. We have neglected
the needy and called it self-
preservation. We have rewarded
laziness and called it welfare. We
have shot abortionists and called it
justifiable. We have neglected to
discipline our children and called it
building esteem. We have abused
power and called it political savvy.
We have coveted our neighbor's
possessions and called it ambitions.
We have polluted the air with
profanity and pornography and
called it freedom of expression. We
have ridiculed the time honored
values of our forefathers and also
called this enlightenment.
Search us, oh God, and know our
hearts today; try us and see if there
be some wicked way in us, cleanse
us from every sin and our leaders.
Guide and bless these men and
women who have been sent to
congress by the people of this Great
Nation that once held ours heads
high throughout the world also
s t o o d f o r f r e e d o m .
Grant them your wisdom to rule
and May their decisions direct us to
the center of your will.
We ask it in the name of Your
Son, the living Savior, Jesus
Christ,
AMEN

OCTOBER: BREAST CANCER
AWARENESS MONTH
October is National Breast Cancer
Awareness Month - a time to
promote regular mammograms and
increase early detection of breast
cancer. About 1 in 8 women in the
United States will get breast cancer.
Other than skin cancer, breast
cancer is the most common kind of
cancer in women. Mammograms
can help find cancer early when
there is the best chance for
treatment.
According to Center for Disease
Control and Prevention, breast
cancer is the number one cause of
cancer death in Hispanic women. It
is the second most common cause
of cancer death in White, Black,

COOTIE BREAKFAST
It’s September and we are fast
approaching the start of a new
Cootie Breakfast season. Mark
your calendar as we kick it off
on 16 September, again breakfast
hours are 9:00 to 11:30.
Last year was a very, very
successful breakfast season.
Thanks so much to our loyal
customers. To keep such a great
customer base, we are staying
with a donation of $7.00 for
adults, the same as it has been
for a few years. Every day we
see where businesses pass on
higher costs to their customers --
- not us!
For new customers who don’t
know why we do breakfast, we’ll
explain briefly:
All breakfast workers are
volunteers and give of their time
for this worthy cause. All money
raised from breakfast goes to
support our hospitalized
veterans.
Examples of this support are:
The Cooties and Auxiliary
(MOC and MOCA) do a Casino
Day in May over at the VAMC
in Hampton. We spend about
$3,000.00 on this alone. We also
do a Christmas in July,
distributing gift bags full of
essentials and goodies; total cost
of Christmas in July is about
$2500.00. We also do the same
at Christmas time in December.
Additionally, we recently added
the VA Hospital in Richmond,
VA (McGuire VAMC) doing a
joint Casino Day with other Pup
Tents.
This is just some of what we do
for our hospitalized veterans.
The cost of the programs are
extensive, but it is for such a
worthwhile cause. There for, please
understand, your continued support

door. It features the Transfer Bar
System that prevents accidental
discharge and comes complete with
its own special locking device for
added safety in storage or transport.

VA Hospital breakfast at the Post
We are still in need of volunteers
to go to the hospital and help with
the Bingo and Movies. For those
who have never helped at the VA
Hospital for Bingo or the Movies,
it is very rewarding.
Bingo takes a few more people
because you are moving around a
lot, checking cards, handing out
prizes, etc. Movies, on the other
hand are a little easier. All you
have to do is have everything set
up ahead of time. And, on top of
that, you get to enjoy the movie.
We always order Pizza for the
vets and on Movie days, we also
have Popcorn. Also on Bingo day,
we usually have something else to
go with the Pizza, something sweet
or chips. Sodas are also provided.
