Amy’s baby-to-be won’t even be 5, and right

now I have two adorable little grandkids,

Anthony and Jada who are 4. They grew so

fast. I’m sure the days and years will fly by.

That’s why I want every meeting, every

event, every milestone to count. I want to do

MARY KAY life with you. I promise to play full

out. I promise to offer you excellence in all I

plan and all I do. And I’m going to ask you to

join me

when you

can.

Come to a

meeting,

send me

an e-mail,

give me a

hug, win a

challenge,

drive long

distances

to an

event. Do

it for me,

and also

for you. I

want to

build a GOLD INNER CIRCLE Area our first

year, and I want to do it with a strong, vivacious

group of directors and consultants reaching

their goals along with me.

I want to feel like you’re totally with me

on this last part of my MK journey, and I want

you to know I’ll be WITH YOU. How will you

find a win? How will you be celebrating in

January 2016? It truly could start with how you

spend Nov. 29 this year and all the years after.

Book me for those Nov. 29ths. I want every

one of mine to be memory makers.

Dear Scintillating Superstars,

Last year in November we SO were

working to line up all the DIQs we’d need to

finish March 1st, so we could go into NIQ. I

remember the rush. I remember wondering

how it could ever happen, and I remember

anticipating going to Sandy Miller’s house for a

celebration for all those who made it. Little did

I know what a feeling I’d have that evening, on

November 29th.

All

through

the NIQ

period

there were

moments

of

confidence

and those

of fear.

That night

at Sandy’s

was a

magical

one, and

there was

no question

that we had

to pull this off. In fact, offspring director Stacey

Nieft finished her DIQ requirements the next

day to be the #16 Director in our budding area.

One year later, I’m headed for Byron on

November 29th to speak at an event, as a

National Sales Director. Why the big deal

about that date and what I’m doing? It’ll be my

59th birthday, and there’s a rush of emotions

that wash over me as I think about that.

Did you know that a National has to

retire when she turns 65, and a National retires

at Leadership Conference in January? For me,

it will be January 2016. That’s not so far off is it?

Think about it. How old will your daughter be?

Who’ll be graduating from high school?

Photo taken in 2000 at my Birthday Party. Can you recognize anyone in the picture?

Each month I will feature a different Future Martin Area Director in our newsletter.

Directors have all gone through many of the same issues that you have or may go through in your life and career.

I know if she can… YOU can. I hope you enjoy our new monthly article.

THIS MONTH’S ISSUE OF:

IF SHE CAN, I CAN!

Director Name: Marci Barbier

Former Occupation: Certified Athletic Trainer

City/State: Yorkville, IL

Joined Mary Kay: January 2007

Debuted as a director: October 2009

# of months of driving free: 16

Highest commission check in one month: $7786.97

What was the sequence of events that brought you into the company (recruiting layering process)? I had a patient at the clinic whose daughter Liz was a physical therapy student and needed observation hours for her program, so she asked if she could work with me. Liz was also a Mary Kay consultant. She happened to be in the clinic on a day when I was complaining about my skin and suggested that I try Mary Kay. To make a long story short, I decided on a whim to purchase the ultimate miracle set (without having a facial) and fell head over heels in love with it right away! About a week later she was back in the clinic and just making conversation. I asked her what it took to be a Mary Kay consultant. When she said that it was $100 to join and that you get all of your product at 1/2 off, I said sign me up because I don’t want to pay full price to you anymore!!

Why did you join? Solely to get my product at 1/2 OFF!

Why did you want to be a director?

I wanted to become a director to resign from my 2nd job at the high school, and increase my paycheck by over 3 times as much as I was making as a consultant! I was ready for a change in my life. I was ready to create my own schedule and have the opportunity to be a leader and mentor to women and to enrich their lives as mine had been! It fills my cup to see women be successful with their businesses and to know that I had a hand in helping them do so.

Page 11

Has there been a dark season in your Mary Kay career? Yes, after I went on target for my car the 1st time and failed, I quit working my business for 10 months due to that and having some other personal things going on in my life. I will never again veer from my MK family. What is brought into my life because of this company is amazing.

What is the one thing that was difficult for you or you were afraid of in this business? I was afraid to fail. Now I learn from my failures and move forward

because of that. If you don’t try and take chances, you will never be successful!

During what time period did you have the greatest growth of income and what was the growth? I just had my greatest growth. As a unit we just finished Honor Society & Dean’s List as the #2 unit in my graduating class of directors from last October! In working towards this goal we just had our best month ever and I

doubled my paycheck because of it.

What do you attribute the growth? I believe it is because I have created a vision for what I want for myself and my unit and am extremely passionate about it. Work full circle and ask each and every person I am around. If I can share what I do and

how I have been blessed by Mary Kay. I am working with my unit to do the same thing.

What advice would you give a consultant that wants to be a Director? You DON’T have to reinvent the wheel! Listen to your director and do what she tells you to do! I feel if you want to be a director you have to be doing at least 1 full circle power start every month...that means 30+ faces & 15+ career talks. Get around as many people as you can and share our amazing product and this amazing opportunity! =)
