The event w/7/ be the second educational conference sponsored by MCE International outside of North America and

represents one of the several initiatives MCE International committed to as part of its strategic plan to expand inter

national benefits and services. Currently, 27% of MCE members are outside of North America. The two-day event will

feature a keynote general session followed by two tracks of technical presentations based upon peer-reviewed papers.

nical Board for the Annual Meeting and will require potential presenters to submit an abstract of their proposed

presentation for consideration. Early Registration for the meeting is $695 for members, $795 for non-members. Regis

tration fee includes access to the two-days of educational sessions, two evening networking receptions, two breakfasts,

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

By Matt Baker

Greetings to my fellow cost engineering professionals in the Houston area and abroad. September's

HGCS meeting was a huge success because of you, so many thanks for your participation! I enjoyed

discussing our recent experience in New Orleans at our AACE International Annual Conference. The

Conference's energy focus was well represented by local professionals in the oil and gas industry and

included many informative panel discussions with industry leaders. I look forward to attending the

2015 annual conference in Las Vegas, which features a mining industry focus.

I took great pleasure in recognizing several of our section members and officers with awards for their

contributions to the organization. Thank you for making AACE International the wonderful organiza

tion that it is. The Houston Gulf Coast Section is quite a powerhouse, considering that we currently

have over 500 members in our section! As great as this number sounds, I believe we could easily dou

ble that through local promotion, social media, and 'word of mouth' invitations. I encourage you to

tell your colleagues about our organization and its abundant opportunities as well as invite them to

the meetings. Your participation makes a huge difference in the growth of our organization. Our lega

cy is definitely worth preserving for the project professionals of tomorrow.

October is shaping up to be a busy month as we prepare for an exciting meeting, featuring Eric Druker

from Booz Allen Hamilton. We also plan on participating in a food drive for the Houston Food Bank as

well as a community outreach event with PMI for Rebuilding Together Houston. Please let me know if

you are interested in participating with us. I look forward to meeting with you and your colleagues

very soon!

See you at the meetings,

Matthew C. Baker, CCT
