KUSD is the third-largest public school district in Wisconsin, serving more than 22,000 students. The district, created in 1967, includes the city of Kenosha, village of Pleasant Prairie, and town and village of Somers. The district is lead by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sue Savaglio-Jarvis. The districts board of education has seven elected officials.

ANNUAL JAZZ FEST IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER
KENOSHA, Wis. (Friday, Oct. 13, 2017) The Kenosha Unified School District Department of Fine Arts, in collaboration with Dave Sturino of Hansens Pool and Spa, will present the Annual Jazz Festival on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Indian Trail High School and Academy, 6800 60th St. The public is welcome to attend all activities leading up to the evening performance.
Students will be involved in performance sessions with guest artists and clinicians Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Festival activities will conclude with a public performance at 6:30 p.m. featuring all KUSD jazz ensembles and the KUSD alumni/staff ensemble. Tickets for the evening performance are $8 (all seats are reserved) and can be purchased at www.kusd.edu/finearts.
Having amassed 21 Grammy nominations, four statues and three Emmy wins, Gordon Goodwin is the most decorated big band leader of the 21st century. He is leader of Gordon Goodwins Big Phat Band, an internationally known ensemble with a reputation as one of the most exciting large ensembles in jazz. The Big Phat Band has released seven critically acclaimed records, its most recent being Life in the Bubble, which garnered four Grammy nominations, and won the Grammy for best large ensemble album. Gordons composing for film and television has garnered him three Emmy Awards. He has written and worked with artists like Ray Charles, Christina Aguilera, Johnny Mathis, John Williams, Natalie Cole, David Foster, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme and Quincy Jones. His charts are played all over the world and have been a robust source of inspiration and learning for thousands of young musicians. This years festival is made possible by generous donations from Hansens Pool & Spa.
