With the increased popularity of Internet connectivity, carriers continue to seek effi- cient methods to meet the need for extended reach and higher speeds for delivering ADSL and POTS to subscribers. ADTRAN ® now supports Octal ADSL2+ with POTS Splitter Carrier Access Modules in the Total Access ® 3000 DSLAM. Octal ADSL2+ provides the bandwidth needed to support video applica- tions including HDTV. Two Pair ATM Bonding provides in excess of 50 Mbps downstream on short loops for successful delivery of multiple channels or for easy bandwidth upgrades as new applications drive the need. The Octal ADSL2+ with POTS Splitter Carrier Access Module provides ADTRAN’s Total Access 3000 DSLAM with eight ports of ADSL2+ along with eight standard POTS Splitter ports for integrating the ADSL2+ and POTS signals. The individually configurable ADSL2+ ports will support ADSL2, ADSL2+, READSL (Reach ADSL), and ADSL; each ADSL2+ port can also be configured for either standard full-rate ADSL or G.lite ADSL. As a dual slot/dual card access module, the data portion can be removed without interrupting POTS service. Flexible and configurable, ADTRAN’s Octal ADSL2+ with POTS Splitters Carrier Access Module allows operators to configure upstream and downstream transmission rates, or the interfaces may be configured to adapt to the best possible rates available on the subscriber loop. With the increased popularity of Internet connectivity, carriers continue to seek effi-cient methods to meet the need for extended reach and higher speeds for delivering ADSL and POTS to subscribers. ADTRAN® now supports Octal ADSL2+ with POTS Splitter Carrier Access Modules in the Total Access® 3000 DSLAM. Octal ADSL2+ provides the

bandwidth needed to support video applica-

tions including HDTV.

TwoPairATMBonding provides in excess of

50 Mbps downstream on short loops for

successful delivery of multiple channels or for

easy bandwidth upgrades as new applications

drive the need. The Octal ADSL2+ with POTS

Splitter Carrier Access Module provides

ADTRAN’s Total Access 3000 DSLAM with eight

ports of ADSL2+ along with eight standard POTS

Splitter ports for integrating the ADSL2+ and

POTS signals. The individually configurable

ADSL2+ ports will support ADSL2, ADSL2+,

READSL (Reach ADSL), and ADSL; each

ADSL2+ port can also be configured for either

standard full-rate ADSL or G.lite ADSL. As a

dual slot/dual card access module, the data

portion can be removed without interrupting

POTS service.

Flexible and configurable, ADTRAN’s Octal

ADSL2+ with POTS Splitters Carrier Access

Module allows operators to configure upstream

and downstream transmission rates, or the

interfaces may be configured to adapt to the

best possible rates available on the subscriber

loop.

With the increased popularity of residential

broadband service, the need to remotely test

loops without the additional cost of an external

testhead is answered with SELT and DELT.

Octal ADSL2+ w/POTS SplitterTotal Access 3000 DSLAM Octal ADSL2+ with POTS Splitter Carrier Access Module

SELT or Single Ended Line Testing allows a

network administrator to test a DSL line with-

out any equipment at the customer end of the

line. This allows remote pre-qualification of

the line, saving time ad expense. DELT or Dual

Ended Line Testing requires a modem on the

subscriber end of the circuit but provides

additional test and troubleshooting capability.

The Octal ADSL2+ with POTS Splitter

Carrier Access Module co-exists in the Total

Access 3000 DSLAM with ADTRAN’s ATM

Switch Modules or Ethernet Switch Module.

The ATM Switch Module provides all ATM cell-

switching functions in the DSLAM and allows

the DSLAM to be connected to an ATM

network via OC-3c or DS3 connections.

The Ethernet Switch Module provides VC to

VLAN switching and allows the DSLAM to be

directly connected into an Ethernet network

via a GigE network connection. The Ethernet

Switch Module also provides PPPoA to PPPoE

translation to ease migration of existing ATM

customers to the Ethernet network.

Front panel LEDs include power/card status

and loop status for each subscriber loop. The

module supports craft interface management.

More comprehensive management is available

using the Total Access Element Management

System (EMS) with SNMP.

The Octal ADSL2+ with POTS Splitter

Carrier Access Module interfaces with the SCU

for SNMP management. Both provisioning

and alarm/LED status is supported.

All provisioning of the module is handled

through the SCU communication link. The

unit retains provisioning data in a nonvolatile

memory device for recovery after a power loss,

and supports optional autoprovisioning

through the SCU.
