Contemporary buildings are built and razed for completely arbitrary reasons. Their existence has become controlled by man, and no longer under the influence of natural means of collapse. Although they are man made, historically their lives have been dictated by decay or damage, now demolition replaces it, and preservation restricts a natural end.

Modern construction is a selfish affair. buildings are built higher and higher in a futile egoistic manner. Most people never visit these buildings. Their lives are very private, privileged ones. However deconstruction is a universal. Everyone can watch as no one can stop them from being there.

As soon as there is an investigation into the structural integrity of a building it gives the building a lifespan, essentially, a life. Then a speculation can be made as to what that life will be like, and the death can be planned for.

A lot of scrutiny is put on the death of a building. Measures must be taken to not only make sure the razing be safe and good, but also that it might not inflame tensions of viewers. That said there are untold examples where these kinds of experiences have drawn a crowd.
