AO4 – Testing the audio clip
Overview of AO4
You task is to test your audio clip
Success Criteria
Pass You must test your audio clip using a test table containing at least 3 tests
You will identify areas for improvement
Merit You must test your audio clip using a test table containing at least 4 tests which cover the main areas of your audio clip
You will identify areas for improvement and action 1 of them
Distinction You must test your audio clip using a test table containing at least 5 tests
The tests will cover the main areas of your audio clip and will be appropriate
You will identify areas for improvement and action most of them
Overview of AO4 Having created your audio clip, you now need
to create a test plan and test your audio clip using this plan.
This will show the areas you have tested as well as the outcome of these tests.
You should also reflect on what you have produced and suggest possible future improvements.
There is no requirement for you to produce evidence of carrying out these tests other than completing the test plan.
Your test plan should include:
Is the file format
suitable?
Have suitable effects been
used?
Is the content suitable?
Is the correct
message conveyed?
Does the audio clip run for the
correct time?
Testing the clip
Is the contents suitable? Is all the planned content included?
Is the content included because it is truly useful or for some other reason?
Is the clip suitable for the target audience?
Is the correct message conveyed? Does the audio clip convey the intended
message?
Does anything distract the audience from the message?
Was there a problem with the storyboard?
Does the audio clip run for the correct amount of time?
At least 45 seconds
Ways to check the running time:
• Play the clip in a media player e.g. Windows Media Player
• Play the clip in Audacity
Have suitable effects been used?
Is each effect appropriate?
Is the file format suitable?
Has the audio clip been exported in a file format that can be played in a media player?
E.g. .mp3, .wav format?
