- Impact on the OceanSaver system

OceanSaver MK II IMO standard approved system hasbeen subject to USCG Type Approval assessment including;

General evaluation against the USCG Rules.

15 land-based tests covering three salinities.

9 land-based tests including an alternative filter .

5 shipboard tests

Component testing including all essential electric

components.

OceanSaver MK II combined USCG and IMO - Impactsof USCG assessments to the system:

Revision of automation system:

Dosage levels and thus energy consumption remainunchanged for operations in marine and brackish water.Dosage starting point revised.

Approved system will include approval for operations infresh water (previously not a part of the IMO standard).Thus:

Dosage sequence for operations in fresh water is

established.Neutralisation procedure updated to encounter

for fresh water operations.

- General impacts

Manuals:

OceanSaver have revised all manuals to comply with the

sequence of content referred to in the USCG Rules. The

content is updated according to changes.

Training manuals have been improved following

experiences from shipboard testing. A general observation:

The BWMS does not receive sufficient attention

when in use.

Operator follow conventional procedure eventhough the system refer to an exact procedure.

USCG vs. VGP (2013):

OceanSaver complies with relevant requirements also

with regards to VGP

Vessels using an approved (IMO or USCG) BWMS is

subject to self monirtoring as follows:

Year 1 after installation samples should betaken, analysed and reported twice over the year.

Following year 1 samples should be taken,

analysed and included in the annual report.

The VGP and the USCG Rules refer to the samedischarge standard. The VGP does not require any

system-specific approval.
