CuttingCutting InstructionsPlease note: All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) from selvage to selvage edge unless otherwise noted.

WOF= Width of Fabric • LOF = Length of Fabric

Fabric A (4510-66 Texture – Green), cut:• (1) 2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (9) 2” squares.• (1) 4 ¼” x WOF strip, sub-cut (7) 4 ¼” squares. Cut each 4 ¼” square across both diagonals to make (28) small triangles. Note: Only (25) small triangles will be used.

Fabric B (1351-Navy Just Color! – Navy), cut:• (1) 2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (9) 2” squares.• (1) 4 ¼” x WOF strip, sub-cut (4) 4 ¼” squares. Cut each 4 ¼” square across both diagonals to make (16) small triangles.

Fabric C (1351-Light Teal Just Color! – Teal), cut:• (1) 4 ¼” x WOF strip, sub-cut (7) 4 ¼” squares. Cut each 4 ¼” square across both diagonals to make (28) small triangles. Note: Only (25) small triangles will be used.

Fabric D (4505-17 Texture Stripe – Medium Blue), cut:• (1) 3 ⅞” x WOF strip, sub-cut (5) 3 ⅞” squares. Cut each 3 ⅞” square across one diagonal to make (10) medium triangles. Note: Only (9) medium triangles will be used.

Fabric E (4512-17 Small Sea Turtles – Blue), cut:• (1) 3 ⅞” x WOF strip, sub-cut (5) 3 ⅞” squares. Cut each 3 ⅞” square across one diagonal to make (10) medium triangles. Note: Only (9) medium triangles will be used.

Fabric F (4507-11 Small Sharks A/O – Light Blue), cut:• (1) 7 ¼” x WOF strip, sub-cut (3) 7 ¼” squares. Cut each 7 ¼” square across both diagonals to make (12) large triangles. Note: Only (9) large triangles will be used.

Fabric I (4511-11 large Sea Turtles – Blue), cut:• (1) 6 ⅞” x WOF strip, sub-cut (5) 6 ⅞” squares. Cut each 6 ⅞” square across one diagonal to make (10) x-large triangles. Note: Only (9) x-large triangles will be used.

Fabric J (1351-Pigment White Just Color! – Pigment White), cut:• (1) 2” x WOF strips, sub-cut (18) 2” squares.• (1) 4 ¼” x WOF strip, sub-cut (5) 4 ¼” squares. Cut each 4 ¼” square across both diagonals to make (20) small triangles. Note: Only (18) small triangles will be used.• (5) 3 ⅞” x WOF strips, sub-cut (41) 3 ⅞” squares. press towards the darker fabric while assembling, unless otherwise noted by the arrows.

Backing (4508-16 Fish Strip - Multi), cut:• (2) 82” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together and trim to 82” x 82” to make the back.

Block Assembly1. Sew (1) 2” Fabric A square to the left side of (1) 2” Fabric J square to make (1) AJ strip. Sew (1) 2” Fabric J square to the left side of (1) 2” Fabric B square to make (1) JB strip. Sew the JB strip to the top of the AJ strip to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (9) Unit 1 squares total.

2. Sew (1) Fabric C small triangle to the left side of (1) Unit 1 square. Sew (1) Fabric A small triangle to the right side of the Unit 1 square. Sew (1) Fabric J small triangle to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 1 square to make (1) Unit 2 square (Fig. 2). Trim unit to measure 4 ¾” square. Repeat to make (9) Unit 2 squares total.

3. Sew (1) Fabric J medium triangle to each side of (1) Unit 2 square. Sew (1) Fabric D medium triangle to the top of the Unit 2 square. Sew (1) Fabric E medium triangle to the bottom of the Unit 2 square to make (1) Unit 3 square (Fig. 3). Trim unit to measure 6 ½” square. Repeat to make (9) Unit 3 squares total.

4. Sew (1) Fabric J large triangle to each side of (1) Unit 3 square. Sew (1) Fabric G large triangle to the bottom of the Unit 3 square. Sew (1) Fabric F large triangle to the top of the Unit 3 square to make (1) Unit 4 square (Fig. 4). Trim unit to measure 9” square. Repeat to make (9) Unit 4 squares total.

Quilt Top Assembly (Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)12. Sew together (4) Block Two squares and (3) Block Three strips, alternating them, to make Row One. Pay attention to the block orientations. Repeat to make Row Three, Row Five and Row Seven, paying attention to the block orientations in each row.

13. Sew together (4) Block Three strips and (3) Block One squares, alternating them, to make Row Two. Pay attention to the block orientations. Repeat to make Row Four and Row Six, paying attention to the block orientations in each row.

5. Sew (1) Fabric J x-large triangle to each side of (1) Unit 4 square. Sew (1) Fabric H x-large triangle to the bottom of the Unit 4 square. Sew (1) Fabric I x-large triangle to the top of the Unit 4 square to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 5). Trim unit to measure 12 ½” square. Repeat to make (9) Block One squares total.

6. Sew (1) Fabric A small triangle to the left side of (1) 3 ½” Fabric J square. Sew (1) Fabric C small triangle to the right side of the Fabric J square. Sew (1) Fabric B small triangle to the bottom of the Fabric J square. Sew (1) Fabric N small triangle to the top of the Fabric J square to make (1) Unit 5 square (Fig. 6). Trim block to measure 4 ¾” square. Repeat to make (16) Unit 5 square total.

7. Sew (1) Fabric J medium triangle to all four sides of (1) Unit 5 square to make (1) Block Two square (Fig. 7). Trim the block to measure 6 ½” square. Repeat to make (16) Block Two squares total.

8. Place (1) Fabric L-Template 1 shape on top of (1) Fabric J-Template 2 shape, right sides together, aligning the left sides (Fig. 8). Sew the two shapes together along the left side. Press the smaller shape open.

9. Place (1) Fabric K-Template 3 shape on top of the Fabric J-Template 2 shape, right sides together, aligning the right sides (Fig. 9). Sew the two shapes together along the right side. Press the smaller shape open to make (1) Unit 6 square (Fig. 10). Trim to measure 6 ½” square. Repeat to make (24) Unit 6 squares total.

10. Repeat Steps 8-9 and use Figure 11 for fabric identification and placement to make (24) Unit 7 squares.

11. Sew (1) Unit 6 square to the bottom of (1) Unit 7 square to make (1) Block Three strip (Fig. 12). Repeat to make (24) Block Three strips total. Block Three

14. Sew together the rows, in numerical order, to make the Center Block.

15. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 60 ½” Fabric J strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric J strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

16. Sew (1) 5 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric O strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 5 ½” x 74 ½” Fabric O strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

Layering, Quilting and Finishing17. Press the quilt top and 82” x 82” backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete.

Binding18. Cut the ends of the (8) Fabric M binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make (1) continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together.

19. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place.
