This presentation is to help you understand how to perform care and maintenance checks, pre-use checks and how to store your half and full face respirator to extend the product lifetime and make sure you are well protected.

Pre-use checks

Check the face piece for cracks, tears and dirt

Examine the inhalation valvefor cracking or tearing

Ensure head straps are intact and have elasticity

Make sure all gaskets are present

Remove exhalation valve cover and examine the exhalation valve and seat for dirt, cracking or tearing

Care and Maintenance

All reusable RPE is subject to the maintenance requirements of CoSHH and records of monthly maintenance and testing must be kept for at least 5 years. Record cards are available through 3M.

Storage

Keep all respirators away from contaminants and store in a clean area.

Ideally, store in a clean locker.

Ensure full face masks are stored face up so that the lens does not become scratched
